Hey Gatti, don't forget, TUF 15 LIVE airs tonight at 9PM on FX.. This is Domick Cruz coaching against Uriah Faber.
:clapagain: haven't watched that show for the past few seasons, i think the last one i followed regularly was the Mir/Nog one. Now, about that gif...
Spokane WA representing! I am telling you guys right now Mike Chiesa is no joke. This kid rolls with the best fighters in Washington state. We call him Cheese at the gym, one of the nicest guys you will meet too. He is less experienced than Cody Mckenzie but straight dominates him when they roll. Mike is sooooo fucking strong. He doesn't look it, but his grip is crazy. He has that lean crazy strength that you don't get from working out with weight. I am calling it right now. Mike will win this and be dominant doing so. Sam Sicila is legit, but nothing compared to Mike. Mike owns his ass when they roll.
Lawrence looked good, but he will get ate up by Cheese. Cheese's ground game is crazy strong man. He has rolled with Fitch and tapped him out. Thats straight up,homey.
That's what I'm saying Trp, don't get me wrong, they weren't trading punches and kicks, it was just grappling. Cheese eats, breaths, and shits training. I have seen this kid come from nothing to now where Lyle won't roll with him and he beats Cody every time they do. He doesn't have the experience yet, that is the only thing he is missing. But the kid is legit. He went over and trained with Hume and Ivan Saliverry for about 10 months. Came back a monster. I really hope Mike moves on from our gym. I know Lyle and those guys don't have anything left to offer him. His stand up is the weakest area of his game. It isn't horrible, but it isn't top level at all. I hope I don't jinx him , I know there are some badasses this season, the talent is decent. But I will let everyone know I am biased from the start. :hammert:
Absolutely man. When our gym had Cody Mckenzie in it I rooted for him of course, but I knew he was really a one trick pony. I never had the thought he would win it all. With Mike, its pretty awesome. I know he has the goods to win this thing. Don't get me wrong, that Lawrence kid is definitely better than Mike in the stand up. This is MMA, anything can happen with 4oz gloves.
I agree with jarhead btw, Chiesa looks like a beast. I fancy him to beat that Justin chap. Despite being a huge fan of striking, I'll always take a good ground fighter over a striker in MMA. I doubt that Justin is good and experienced enough to stop the fight going to the ground.
The minute Faber said Chisea trains with Fancy Pants and Cody, I knew we'd have the Fightbeat favorite. I'll be pulling for him. What is it with the crazy, grizzly-like long hair with these dudes from the Pacific NW.
I was going to ask, is it the town trend in Spokane for young guys to have long hair and beards, the sort of musician/Jesus look? ::
I'm just kidding, I haven't really watched much TUF for the past couple seasons but I will root for your homie!
Just curious, what did you guys think of FX's production of it? I thought it really sucked. You can tell they are almost trying to make it out like a sports broadcast. Thought it was cheesy and the commentator fuckstick was an idiot.
Yep. Bad by their standards is pretty damn good though. They averaged 1.3 million viewers, down from a previous low of 1.5m.
The lower viewers probably has more to do with many viewers still thinking it is on Spike. Spike had a previous season on at the same time FX was viewing this. Pretty smart on Spike's part.
I thought it was awful. TUF is usually fun. Despite not being a big MMA fan, my girlfriend really likes TUF, and has watched every season. She didn't like this episode at all. It's usually slick, polished, and fun. This new season/format etc is dull and generic.
They usually have an entire season of footage to "shape" the show however they want. Now with the live fights, they have one week worth of footage to make each episode. I would say that has a lot to do with it.
