...was THE WAY Wlad Aggressively Slapped Away @ Ibragimov's Jab...Instead of Merely BLOCKING or CATCHING the Jab, Wlad Threw HURTFUL, Heavyhanded SWATS @ it... This Gave the Impression that Wlad Completely DISrespected Ibragimov's Power & was Looking to Put some Real HURT on him... Wlad is NEVER that DEMONSTRATIVE N the Ring, yet he Persisted w/the Slaps/Swats...& it WORKED!!!...By Round 4-5, Ibragimov had All but Given up on the Jab & It was @ this Moment that REED EXPECTED Wlad to Obliterate him... But Obviously, that Didn't Happen... REED:doh:
the worst part was at the end when Sultan was fighting a lilttle sloppier and was getting tired. Wlad didn't seem as tired as in other fights. yet he was still cautios for some reason. :dunno:
i'm a big Wlad fan and that annoyed the fuck out of me... Byrd used to do that shit, just without power... is that even allowed???
But Byrd had no power. he had to slap his way to a UD Wlad is supposed to be the baddest Heavyweight alive. :dunno:
REED Loooooooooved when Wlad was Doing it:clap: ... That Tactic had MEANING to it... "I'm Bigger, Stronger, More Powerful & to PROVE it, I'm just Gonna Swat your Pitiful Jab Away"... "How Dare U even ATTEMPT to Land this Ridiculous Jab on Me!" It was as if Wlad was LITERALLY Trying to KNOCK Ibragimov's Right Arm Off:: ...A VERY Aggressive Display from Wlad...& he Came Out Doing it N the Very 1st Round... But that's what Ultimately Left REED Disappointed...Wlad Set a VERY AGGRESSIVE TONE, yet Casually Crossed the Finish Line... REED
really? it just didn't feel like proper boxing to me at the moment... but if it's within the rules - i'm fine with it.
Personally I think Wlad was afraid to cut loose with the right hand for fear of Sultan's counter left. I know Ibragimov isn't a puncher, but I still think Wlad kept the right around his chin all night for fear of getting tagged.
I liked the psychological ploy at first too actually, swatting away the little man's pathetic, pawing jab, effortlessly and assertively. But it went on for too fucking long :: And when sultan was looking discouraged, wlad never attempted to step it up. It was horrendous really.
Yup. He completely demoralised his opponent and then just, well, never bothered his arse to take advantage. :dunno:
The worst thing about the fight? That I watched it from start to finish. Although both fighters looked better then Bob Sapp getting his ass beaten by an out of shape 1-5 fighter, like he did last night. TFK
I recorded the fight and luckily didn't watch more then 5 minutes total. It was amazing that everytime i fastforwarded they were still looking at eachother.
Not from what i have been told. I was preying that Riddick Bowes and Golotas fan would show up to finish what they started in 1996.
dude. i hate wlad. but slapping sultan'sright hand was smart. by round three, sultan's right hand was down and wlad's jab was landing at will. REED:doh:[/quote]
that's fine for the first couple of rounds. But after 5-6 rounds don't you think it would be ok to take a risk and try to finish that fool? Wlad had every advantage he could have and still fought like he had a monster in front of him. :dunno: It made no sense for him to finish the fight like that. AT no point did Ibragimov show he was a threat.
he was using the side of fist/wrist/forearm to hit his opponent - not block him - actually hit him. however it turns you on, reed, i don't think you're allowed to hit your opponent with anything other than the knuckles of your first.
i dunno about this tactic for Wlad...i guess it's a thing against southpaws? he was doing it so often and hard at times that he may as well have just thrown jabs at his face :dunno: also seemed to leave him more open than a jab would
