It's a pretty good read. As many of his recent HBO articles, it relies heavily on quotes from Arum so that has to be taken into consideration. Still, it raises some interesting questions on the relationship between HBO and Golden Boy Promotions and some oft-cited criticisms of HBO in general (and it's current leadership). It even brings up a couple rumors about whether the network was steering fights towards G fighters (like Pavlik to Hopkins, or Pacquiao to DLH). Arum suggests the former, not the latter.
Interesting nugget from Kim and just an incredibly researched piece by an expert scribe. Reading about HBO these days makes me really, really depressed.
I read this earlier today and tried posting it, but once the posting limit thing popped up, I stopped. Thanks for taking the time out to do that. This is Hauser's best work in a while. It seemed like much of the other HBO stuff he's written recently was bits and pieces of articles in the past. What we see here is the inner workings of multiple negotiations going on at the same time and how it is managed, and eventually mis-managed. Sure, it may seem like Arum has a bone to pick with HBO, but Arum isn't the only one complaining...and it's not only to Hauser. Arum's just the only one openly doing it. EDIT: I wanted to create a totally seperate thread based off of the photo that is running with the article. Look at that face and tell me that's not the face of a warrior. And I'm not even a fan!
