Hearns. I see the success that Kessler had with Joe with the right hand, and uppercut at times, then picture if its Hearns in there doing that.
Kessler, though, has arguably a better chin than Hearns did..and Calzaghe can "slap" fairly hard. Also Calzaghe had endless stamina and Hearns had been known to fade late. I got Calzaghe in this one...but it's a very close fight and Hearns drops him early. I think Calzaghe comes on late and does enough to edge out a decision.
I think Tommy had the type of power that might have made Joe gun shy for the duration of the fight. It would be close however.
Neither fighter at their optimum weight by any means. Hearns was by far the 'greater' fighter, but Calzaghe wins a comfortable enough UD IMHO here. MTF
I dont see how Calzaghe beats him he isnt some big banger with an undentable chin and he's not outboxing him (nobody else did)
