Hearns matches up both better and worse vs Manny Pacquiao than Leonard does. Naturally the knee jerk reaction to this thread would be one of horror and anger that I'd dare put Manny in the ring with Hearns...and most would think that it would be Hearns KO 2...recalling what Hearns did to the shorter Cuevas and Duran. Yes it is true that Hearns is significantly larger, taller and rangier than Pacquiao..and so i can excuse anyone who sees this as a stylistic mismatch. However... This is the way in which Thomas hearns matches up worse against Pacquiao than Leonard did (his advantages are clear and so no need to mention them) Stamina and Chin. As we know..hearns could be hurt and could be stopped. We also know that his stamina, although good, wasn't excellent. This plays, naturally, into two of manny's great strengths: Stamina/Workrate and POWER! Hearns would have a buzzsaw coming at him for every second of every round for as long as teh fight lasts...and at some point he's going to feel that power on his less than Iron chin. Having said all of this though.... I have to pick Hearns by KO It's a simple matter of genetics and punishment delivery system hearns is too tall and too rangy (and too naturally big). As such i have to believe that he gets to pacman first, before manny's own power and stamina become factors. The longe rteh fight goes..the more Pac's chances increase EXPONENTIALLY...but the fight simply will not go far. hearns KO 3
Agreed completely. Chances are that Hearns finishes him quickly and if it goes rounds he should be able to command with his reach and strength, but Manny is not out of chance here either
Ugh. I think maybe we should blow some more kisses at Manny. Meanwhile...in the real world...Hearns, quickly and brutally.
In this instance, my knee-jerk reaction is the same to my thought-out one. Hearns, savagely. However, I don't think anyone will disagree with me when I call Pacquiao the greater fighter. Now to commence a Hearns thread of my own...
I'm a big fan of Manny but its hard for me to imagine how he'd beat Hearns. Tommy's too big and too strong. Hearns KO 6
I think Pac's only chance is if he can hurt Hearns and follow up. It's possible, Hearns chin was probably no better than Cotto's but the odds are against it, in my bookies. Hearns TKO 5.
Dude, Hearns ices him No way a guy that small, a former flyweight, is going to do anything but get killed by Tommy
