Funny how some clowns were all over Lemieux as if he was the next coming, some he even called him the best preospect in boxing.. Shows how koing a couple of bums will give you so much credit and publicity. Always stated that he was a very poor man acelino freitas, and his power doesn't seem to be as good as advertised against decent oppossition.

Wonder if Lemieux will be able to rebound from that loss

He lost against the two stepping stones he fought, I doubt he'll even reach that status in the future. He was overhyped.

I knew he was no good because of his last name. Frenchies will never be anything more than pastry chefs and sodomites whether in the motherland or North America.

I never understood the hype with him. Never, ever ever. This is the problem with the press. One major writer begins submitting glorified press releases about someone, and everyone rallies around it.

Last night, dude got punked by a flabby ex-junior middleweight with marginal power. It's not even that Lemieux lost, he looked like he's already shot - or at the very least, gunshy, which is never a great attribute for an alleged puncher.

It went the distance, but it was pathetic. Alcine didn't even land all that much, but just kept coming forward all night, and Lemieux couldn't figure out that throwing punches in return might be a good way to back him the fuck up.

Seems like he's just not really cut out to be a fighter.

He's been fighting since he's a kid, but you wouldn't think so. He hardly looks like a natural in there, and doesn't exactly look that schooled either.

Some guys are just meant to be fighters, naturals. This testicle isn't one of them.

Agreed though. He obviously had some ability to be able to come this far, but he's clearly not really meant to be a fighter.

I can more see him as a data analyst or something.

Isn't "Le Mieux" French for "The Best"???

"Le Plus Grand" is French for "The Greatest".

    no

mieux mean better, so Lemieux would mean the better, wich doesn't makes any sense in frech. Maybe in old french it was usable.

    le mieux means the best

@Steve_Dave were you suggesting that "Le Mieux" = "The Greatest"???

The French translated "The Greatest" {Ali's film} into "Le Plus Grand"...so...:dunno: however you can always appeal to Berlin for an alternative translation and force Paris to go along with it.

Yep, Le Mieux means the best.

Do they speak Arabic in JOM's part of Canada?

Nah. JOM's English is weak, as we all can tell. It's no big deal, he's able to communicate. It's stronger than my french.

you guys are funny, you can barely put 2 sentences together in french and you're arguing with me about it.

saying Le mieux, about someone (unless it's theyr last name) is not correct french. The correct translation for the best is le meilleur, not le mieux. As I said, mieux means better, not best.

You could say le mieux if you talk about a situation ( it's the best we could do / c'est le mieux que l'on pouvait faire) but even then it's not the most elegant way of saying it.

I used to live in Paris, and I've never heard anyone say "Le meilleur" for "The best", if it's a noun, ie - "This Pho Tai is the best!".

In fairness, I used to trade hard-to-find, old hockey footage with different folks, a couple of guys up in JOM's province, a guy in Trois Riviere and another in, if I remember correctly, a place called St. George... I got to talking with them online about Quebec and how it was there, if it was pretty, that sort of thing and we talked about the language and they indicated to me that the french there is a little different than the French in France, sort of like your English and my English would have small differences... I would take JOM's word for it on this, he's the only guy from there among us

From what I've read, the Brit version of English is actually a gradually formed bastardization and that the general Northeast American accent is probably closer to what the first English speakers sounded like:crafty::crafty::crafty::crafty:

I will put that on my headstone. French is the worst language on Earth. I refuse to utter (actually bray) a single word of it. Worst language ever. Then again, I am good with languages and I can't retain a word of French. Perhaps, I am being defensive.

no, what I said is correct international french, it has nothing to do with the quebecois dialect (joual), wich is nearly dead, especially in urban area, and even I have problem understanting it .

Anyway , this topic is boring and pointless since some of you seem to have the message board board syndrom(incapacity to admit the're wrong).
