I'm sick of seeing him against guys I've never heard of and who clearly haven't been schooled in the art of boxing for 15+ years. Chavez needs to get past a proven veteran to earn any respect. I've been hearing about a guy who fits the bill perfectly on various message boards. Apparently he was Juan Diaz' chief sparring partner back when he was good, and is willing to throw down with anyone who can make it out to Houston. Let face it, Julio is an open book for anyone who can roast ribs and he has never worked a door in his life. The Stinger would stop Chavez in the 4th in my opinion. Thoughts?
Chavez Jr is what he is...mediocre, just fighting off of his dad's name. Having him as chief support was a joke. They've milked his name for all it's worth...i just wanna see him get beaten by some top 20 154/160 lber, draw a line under it and never have to sit through one of his fights at 4 in the morning ever again.
I don't give a fuck what the kid do...as long as i don't have to pay for it...or be force to watch it... Arum putting him and Yuri in every one of his ppv undercard is bullshit...
The kid has no business being on PPV. I don't care that he's undefeated through 40+ fights. He hasn't fought anyone of note and until then should feature on free to air tv if he is covered on tv at all. His opponent tonight was an absolute joke.
Chavez fights usually are pretty entertaining tonights fight was a joke. So much for Valero-Soto being on the U/C.
NO..he can be on PPV...his own PPV..the one he headlines..where people know they are paying to see him...he SHOULD not be put on undercards involving world class fighter...that is bullshit..i don't want to see him...I'll rather see a 100 Gomez vs. Soto-Karrass...humble tough veterans that have done their thing....
Thanks for that bro, at my peak..I'd have put the kid on Ice, but that was then and this is now he is too young for me in the ring, I can overpower and subdue him on the street, but this is professional boxing and not MMA or throwing drunks out of a bar. I actually think he beats John Duddy if the commentary was accurate tonight and that fight comes off. He needs to quit loading up, he will never be his father, but makes a nice move or two in there, but him fighting at middleweight is a recipe for disaster as he appears too frail for the hard hitters in that division. Karl
He could probably fight @ 175 if they keep throwing him in there with no-hopers. He doesn't have to train hard to beat nobodies. I'm not sure if he actually wants to. Clearly his team is just trying to milk whatever they can get out of his last name at this point. Of course any promoter would use that angle but he's no longer a serious prospect. Jr. is almost a side show attraction like Butterbean at this point. As i posted in the RBR thread i thought he showed more promise 20 fights ago then he does now. If he was serious at all he shouldn't be fighting a gram over 147.
Arum is a putz. Even when he does something cool like he did last night (free under undercard on satellite providers), he fucks it up. They did interviews with losers and didn't show the 3rd round of the Korobov fight and they did the same thing on another fight and didn't show the 2nd rd of a TKO 2 fight. Come on.
I enjoy watching Chavez jr. He doesn't have the toughness, mental sharpness or physical strength to ever be top drawer but he does some cute things in there and you can see the schooling he has. I'd rather watch him than most present world champs, actually. But yeah, he's a sideshow act admittedly, dont hold your breath to see him in with anyone dangerous. They'll milk his marketability for as long as they can.
Chavez would die against any decent Middleweight or Junior Middle. I am not being a smartass either. He might die. He really fucking sucks.I actually think either Cotto or Pacquiao would defeat him at middleweight.
Stinger you should challenge him, perhaps MMA style so you can use your 'street' skills. I smell a cage match. I'd pay to see it.
No point in seeing him tested when we all know(even his handlers) that he'll fail. He's pretty irrelevant in the sport.
I watched the fight with Duddy, actually. He's really confident that he could beat Chavez....obviously. Chavez would be favored in that one, but it would be a good stiff test to see where the kid really stands.
Well that made me laugh out loud. It's not so much that I think Chavez Jr. needs to move up. I don't really care for him either way. I just don't want him being shoved down our throats as the co-main event to the biggest fight of the year. Had he been the first fight...fine with me. If you're going to display him as a featured attraction, put him in a real fight.
