How do todays top guys at both weights do against a prime Trinidad? Styleswise, I think Crawford is one of the harder fights, but his chin is still a question mark for me. Spence gets hit too much to beat Tito IMO. Ugas could present some stylistic problems but I don’t think he’s good enough to beat Tito. Brook, Thurman, Porter, and DSG all get taken out. Khan gets hilariously KO’d. Ennis and Ortiz are too young and inexperienced to win IMO. At 154, none of those guys present too much of a threat, IMO. Charlo can punch, but he’s just not skillful enough. Castano is tough but his style is made for Trinidad. Lubin doesn’t have the chin to get out of the early rounds.
Hed be a favorite over anyone. Charlo is probably the bigger threat because of his speed and power, but he's probably too flawed to get it done
It's the classic case if we're talking him facing them all back to back, or in a vacuum? If he fights all these quality fighters back-t0-back, he might drop one. In a vacuum, he's the favorite over anyone currently at 147-160. Yes, even 160. A 400 year old Golovkin is not beating the Trinidad who destroyed Joppy.
Definitely in a vacuum. Agreed about Trinidad vs the old Golovkin whom I saw twice beat Canelo, but thats beside the point. Really anticipating to see how both Ennis and Ortiz develop. Ennis is clearly the better of the two.
Indeed, but as i said, i think they're too flawed to beat tito. At best, I could see them dropping tito with a wild punch, but tito is much too technical for them. He'd get up and beat their ass
The only wild card out of the current crop that we can't for sure is Ennis. We don't know his ceiling yet, but he has the potential to be scary good. Vergil Ortiz, while very good, I highly doubt he's ever gonna be as good as Trinidad. Tito had a lot more natural talent than Vergil.
As others have already pointed out, Ennis and Ortiz are N/A at this stage, there's just no way to evaluate their chances accurately against a guy like Tito when they're so green. I rate Crawford highly, very highly in fact, I'm a big fan. Personally, I would give him a good shot based on what I've seen skillwise, but at the same time I have to admit his resume is majorly lacking, and I also have to accept that I don't see anyone in and around his weight class that he could beat to convince people he'd be a live threat against Trinidad. So if people think Tito wipes the floor with him, I disagree, but I can't really argue it too much. I like Spence, he's a good fighter, but yeah I can't see him winning this one. The others I agree with the consensus, Trinidad takes them out. I agree with JOM that I could see one of the Charlo's scoring the seemingly obligatory early flash knockdown on Tito, but it's all downhill for them from there.
I agree with Slice that at Crawford is a tricky match up for Tito. But I still think Crawford’s chin is suspect. His recovery is really good, though. Errol has the tools to hold his own against Trinidad but that’s a match up I see turning very ugly down the stretch. I can see Errol going out like Vargas.
Id.pick vargas rather confidently over Spence. Spence is a good fighter, but not a lot more than that. I dont think spence would beat the quartey vargas beat (even if inactive), nor the wright he beat (even if it was controversial)
I would take Spence over the rusty, inactive Quartey that Vargas beat but I have absolutely no doubt that an active, sharp Ike picks Errol apart and it would be nasty. Winky Wright is an interesting match up because he doesn’t punch hard, so Errol won’t have to fear any power, and Winky hadn't yet perfected his turtle shell that he was so effective with against shot versions of Trinidad and Quartey. I think it’s competitive due to the styles and intangibles but Wright is just better. He’d win a competitive but clear decision. Vargas vs Spence would be a really good fight. Gotta role with Nando there.
Tito is favoured over everyone IMO. The elder Charlo and Crawford are his most dangerous fights but I think he stops both.
Page blast easily all these so called champs at 147 and 154. Would have done the same to the fighters in his era, if it wasnt for the absolute fluke against sox heads lewis
