Today I will announce who I plan to sell the site to! I'm still waiting for one final offer, and then I will state who the winner is. Thanks again everyone for supporting FightBeat.com and I hope you will help make this a better site by lending a helping hand to whomever takes over. Regards, Carlos Guzman
Well, I offered $500, but webmastering and all the other details were things I had not considered previously. I just wouldn't be able to dedicate the time required. Looks like I'll have to pass as there are a number of details I hadn't considered, and although I could put the money in, I can't commit the time required.
Andrew, ill let you know when I care what you think. Again. Around 6-7pm EST I will tell you who won. Problem is some of the people that want it haven't officially stated "I will buy your website for xx dollars" So if you are interested email me at fightbeat@gmail.com with your offer
:: good point. Well, at this point the first group backed out because, in all honestly, they realized the overwhelming task it would be to run this with just two people. I don't think the forum members that can step up to help run FightBeat on a daily basis have made their intentions clear. Without programming help/website design help it will be difficult for anybody to do what I have been doing by myself for many years. Therefore, all interested parties in helping rebuild fightbeat should state what they can do to help so that the new buyers will understand that the community will help them out. cupey
I'm in confidential negotiations with him as we speak. Our conversation has been as follows; Me - Hey Qwerty let's team up and buy this place. Qwertry - Who is teh thsi? Me - never mind
I think one thing potential investors should consider is buying the website but getting the forum back to an acceptable level first. The members will return if its improved from the shit box quality it is now. Then down the track, possibly finding another partner who can help out with the redoing and updating the main page.
Cupes, may I make a comment? The fact you've dropped from $3K to around $900 in a short time for this site means you, as we, realise it's a dog. But you need to let it go, as you don't care about it anymore. Others can ultimately pull it back together. The $ is coming from love. Just thought you should know.
sorry, but I don't agree with you on that. The fact is that I want it to go to the right people. I've put it within the reach of many people now and with the right partnerships and resources the site can become a success. So sorry punk, I don't agree with your assessment. Cupey
This might be a sound strategy. Although part of the lure of purchasing a site such as FB is the access to credentials. Abandoning the site will hurt in the long run. Cupey
FYI, the main resource needed is not money but rather time and expertise. There is no point in buying the site without the proper people in place. There is a need for some tech support in the news updating and some minor graphic work. Also maybe some programming to make changes to the site. Cupey
Fair enuf. Seriously, it don't matter in the long run. But Boxing.com, boxingtime.com and secondout.com folks have history here. Sell it to some Gordon Gecko bitch and we're all done, but none of us will ultimately care in the long run once it's run and done. Horses and courses. Roots baby, roots.
well that's why I don't want to sell to just anybody. If people put up the funds and the new owners make their claim I think everyone else will step up. But letting this day pass with no changes will hurt the moral of the members. It's time to move forward. Move past your differences and take ownership in the future of your hangout. Those people that were bitching before should now chime in and say "I can help with this or that" Cupey
Well, when I make the announcement all of the talking everyone did here will be in vein because everyone talks but nobody has backed it up in terms of help. Many people are offering money, but nobody time. Cupey
I offered to help steve_dave with the look and functionality of the board. Working on the skins, smilies and various other things. However my current status doesn't give me access. steve_dave said he pm'd you before about that and you never got back to him.
