    Post your list.

To me the best comic book movie of all time is Man of Steel, followed by The Dark Knight.

Haven't thought about a specific order after that but here is the rest of my top 10.

    Guardians of the Galaxy
    Avengers
    X2
    Superman (original)
    XMen First Classs
    Captain America: Winter Solider
    Captain America : Civil War

I don't know about 'Best' and I'll list those later but one I can watch again and again for laughs is the original Batman (1966)

You meant 'Superhero movies'? Because if you meant like in thread title 'comic book movies' as in screen adaptations of comic books, then we are talking about films like:

    300
    A History of Violence
    Road to Perdition
    From Hell
    Snowpiercer
    Oblivion
    Ghost in the Shell
    Men In Black
    Scott Pilgrim vs the World
    Oldboy
    Sin City
    The Crow
    Ghost World
    30 Days of Night
    American Splendor
    Constantine

Yeah Joe King, with these cunts around you have to be very specific. Change the topic to " comic book superhero movies" and then you'll get the responses that you want.

Man of steel is waaaaaaay down the list for me. I'm surprised you have that as number one.

    In no particular order

    Civil war
    Avengers
    X2
    Winter soldier
    X1
    Guardians 1
    Iron man
    Superman
    Superman 2
    X men first class

That's only 8. You need to have two more to meet the thread's 10 list.

Was heading toward that way until the final 1/3 of the movie when all of the interesting stuff specific to a 'man of steel' changed into a destroy-fest which is more what you'd expect from a 'superman'

I was disappointed big time. The world knew of krypton and Zod before they knew about superman. I didn't like that. In fact he wasn't really superman, he was the alien Kal'el. Too many flashbacks. Too many silly plot devices. I didn't like the entire krypton story....in this one, it was nowhere near as interesting as it was in the original superman. Then the last third of the film was just mindless destruction. I mean...how many buildings and gas stations can you destroy before enough is enough?

To me the damage is a big part of why I like it so much. It's what would happen if two super beings went at it until the death. I mean it was an alien invasion complete with terraforming. That was insane. I really liked the Krypton beginning. I get the point about Zod being introduced to the public "first" but I liked the invasion route. Plus all of the damage set up Batman vs Superman nicely. I do rate that film a lot higher now than I did initially.

watched Logan recently, hailed by at least some critics as "reinventing/reinvigorating the genre". fuck does it. the first half hour with Wolverine old and a senile Prof X mixing up shakespeare monologues and tv commercials is interesting, then with Wolverine as a potential dad figure. but that's all that's original about it. afterward it's the usual derivative nonsense about secret projects to create super-soldiers, pointless villains with no emotional content, etc. - And the whole thing's too violent - just smacks of desperation. don't have a good script, so let's just make it ultra-violent, say it's "edgy".

great superhero movies, off the top of my head:

    recent marvel stuff -
    spiderman 1 & 2
iron man (prob most of them)
    civil war
    avengers 1 & 2
    x-men days of future past
    ant-man (pretty good)
    deadpool

    other stuff -
    ang lee's hulk (yes)
    burton's first batman
dark knight - some great elements, even though it's ultimately overlong & flawed
    first superman

was disappointed by guardians of the galaxy, and Dr Strange wasn't good. marvel's been incredibly prolific, but it seems they need to switch it up now - things feeling formulaic.

    watchmen was poor, IMO.

man of steel was pretty good, as i remember it. that Zod who played teh schizophrenic in Take Shelter (fucking class movie) was good.

Did you read the graphic novel before watching? It's spot on.

That was a very strange taking on some pretty good movies. Watchmen was a brilliant, faithful adaptation of Alan Moore's great graphic novel. Easily Zack Snyder's best film to date. Guardians of the Galaxy was damn good fun entertainment and Doctor Strange was pretty good too. Even my wife liked it and she totally HATES comicbook films.

yeah i read the graphic novel a few years beforehand. watching the movie made me like the comic book less in retrospect. no doubt it was groundbreaking when it first came out, back in the 80s or whenever, but a movie where the superheroes get humanised and politicised is just derivative in the 00s. without that, there wasn't much of interest.

i understand that some fanboys value "faithfulness" of movie adaptations to the original comic material, like young jihadists choosing among interpretations of the Koran. for the rest of us, it just makes the movie predictable and boring.

I like how in Man of Steel the villain, who's a military leader, gets beat up by a scientist in the first 10 minutes and is then supposed to be a bad ass menace for the rest of the film that I never finished watching.

Odd that the majority of those who watched it disagrees with you and the theaters were drowning in tears at the end.

Big difference from millions to or half a population to pretty much everyone that saw the movie agreed it was great.

Yup. but Im not the one acting like my words is Gospel on a movie despite being a clear minority in his opinion. And since he brought up trump, im not the one that called people fucking idiots for picking him over Hilary or watching some night time opinion guy as opposed to picking hilary and watching some other night time opinion guy.
