Most of the white heavyweights that were any good fought in the sub-200 days and are too little to do much in a who beats who basis

Marciano was a terrific fighter but he weighed 187 pounds ... he can't fight klitschko sized dudes

Fury is very much still a question mark. He barely outpointed a scared Wlad and got dropped hard by Cunningham of all people. He could end up being great or a white Michael Grant. Most likely somewhere in between. IMO closer to Grant than a great .

 

He didn't "barely" outpoint him, he won going away.

 

I only remember one round (11th I think) where a real punch landed. nothing in that fight was decisive .except how bad it was

The performance? No. Fury is pretty horrible to watch actually, even outside of the Wlad fight, but his ring IQ and footwork is excellent. The guy is what? 6ft9? To be able to move like he does is impressive.

 

I wouldn't even disagree that it was the worst (heavyweight at least) title fight in history, but he knew he was winning the rounds, it was his first world title fight, all that matters is winning. The onus is on the champion to up the tempo and change the course of the fight.

He won, comfortably, against the guy who dominated the division for the previous decade in the guy's backyard. He gets some credit.

 

Imagine if Tyson realized Berbick was petrified and instead went on to beat him 115-113. No Tyson was there to kill that man and kill he did. He knew he was levels better and he showed it. I think Fury knows he sucks and thus took the W anyway he could get it.

 

Fury has never been a big puncher, and his attitude has always been to just go out there and get the win, no matter how ugly it looks. I'm never going to put the guy on the level of somebody like Tyson, that would be silly, but there are loads of guys in every division who have perfected the art of winning ugly.

 

Thing is the fight was in Germany and all rounds but 1 were relatively close and Fury knowing that and having a frozen zombie wlad still didn't try to really WIN.
.like WIN WIN....it kinda looked like he'd hope for the best and if he lost the decision he'd have something to cry about. He didn't show me he was there to take the throne. . he kinda snuck in and sat down when wlad went to use the bathroom

I know what you're getting at, and it's the whole adage of ripping the belt away from the champion and all that, I understand. Saying that, if you're an underdog and fighting for what pretty much everybody sees as the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world, against a bloke who has dominated the division for a decade, and that guy is confused or whatever, or spooked, and refusing to throw punches, and you're winning round after round just because you're throwing some more, then fuck it. Keep doing it, win the rounds, win the fight without breaking sweat.

 

I had the fight something like 117-111, it was a clear win.

 

Only after they each spent 30 penalty kicks touching their toes gently against the ball and running in the other direction like a shy and confused 5 year old before furry "won" by accidentally slipping and errantly kicking the ball into the net

 

On what basis did you award rounds? Neither guy took part in boxing

 

I agree but at the same time fighting in Germany there is no way he was sure he's ahead on points.
