    I would say:

    1. There Will Be Blood
    2. The Master
    3. Boogie Nights
    4. Magnolia
    5. Punch Drunk Love

Same as you. There Will Be Blood and The Master are maybe the two best movies of the 21st century. I’ve watched them both at least 15 times.

Agreed. I see those 2 as this real masterpieces.

Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and PDL are all excellent movies, but a notch below TWBB and The Master, imo.

I like Boogie Nights a good deal more than Magnolia, which is still very good. Love John C. Reilly’s character, and obviously Tom Cruise takes an awesome turn. I’ve only seen Punch-Drunk Love the one time many years ago and wasn’t too fond of it. Mainly because of my dislike of Adam Sandler. It’s more than due for a rewatch, though.

Hard Eight is another quality PTA movie, and could have taken the #5 spot.

I think #5 can arguably be replaced by any of his other films.

Virtually everybody seems to agree with his top 4, although different critics have different orders of the 4.

Most seem to (correctly) agree that TWBB is his best work.

I rewatched Boogie Nights for the first time in years. I misspoke - I think it is a masterpiece. Definitely not as good as TWBB, but it has a solid case over The Master as his #2 best movie.
