Prime for prime at 147 is the only match up worth discussing. Curry is a better all around technician IMO, which would allow him to start fast and jump out to a lead. Might even get a flash knockdown on Tito. But by the mid rounds, Trinidad makes a come back and begins to close the distance and force more exchanges which would result in Curry getting caught with something he can’t recover from. Trinidad via come from behind KO in 10 rounds.
Very confidently pick Tito by KO. My opinion of Curry dropped in the last 15 years. I think Tito was better, and I also think Tito was just wrong for Curry. Don didn't have the chin nor the heart to beat Trinidad.
Curry had all the tools to beat Trinidad but in prize fights at the top level intangibles matter. I think Tito finds a way.
Curry is much better suited for fighting Oscar than fighting Tito. I think Don beats DLH by pretty dominant decision.
Curry is one of those guys that much like Kell Brook, needs the fight to be fought at a measured pace for him to be comfortable enough to keep his rhythm, otherwise he falls apart. Curry isn’t built for a high pressure kind of fight. Oscar doesn’t have great stamina and Curry hits hard enough to make him hesitant to get inside. Plus, Oscar had no inside game. And while he has some pop, he doesn’t have it in him to walk Curry down round by round. Curry decisions him with a few shaky moments.
I was watching Curry’s fight with Hwang the other night and it was apparent how much difficulty Curry was in. I think Mayorga would have made life very uncomfortable for Curry.
Curry may outbox and even drop Trinidad early in the fight, but as the fight goes on Trinidad will eventually catch up to Curry and knock him clean with a good left. Curry was the finer technician but his toughness leaves a lot to be desired and Trinidad is more than capable of breaking Curry down the stretch.
