Buddy Rydell is my daddy, and I love it when he spanks me with his superior fight knowledge!!! Just copy and paste it, lads!
As January is 31 days, I look forward to seeing that in your sigs for the next 31 days, starting with when you put it in there, fellas! :goodnews:
If they won, I had to put whatever they wanted in my sig for a month. If I won, they had to put my quote in their sigs for a month. Rumble looked a bit slow in there. He got down to 186-187, and the doctors told him he HAD to rehydrate apparently, so at the weigh-in, he was 197. On fight night, he was 204.8lbs but probably put on more weight after they weighed him. Vitor cut 35lbs as well apparently. The other thread shows the original bet.
Aha...when you said what was the bet, I didn't understand you meant what was the bet about, but rather I thought you meant what were the terms. I guess those guys are busy today, so am I. It's quiet time for my little lad right now, and then we are going out for awhile. It's my wife's bday, so she's getting ready and I'm monster-sitting for the time being. ::
I have put it in my signature but it is done so under protest. My protest is over referee Dan Mirgliatta (sp) standing this fight up mere seconds after every take down by Johnson. WTF? Nevertheless, congrats Dad.....
It looked like Vitor would win regardless, but it did smell of hometown cooking the way they were constantly getting stood up.
BTW fair play Buddy, Johnson is simply not as good as I thought. Not sure whether the weight thing was a factor or not, but Vitor looked like the better fighter in there, Johnson didn't look great by any stretch. I'm amazed he got taken out so easily too, it didn't take much to wear him down.
I disagree. If Johnson could have been allowed to ground and pound Vitor, it could have been a different fight. This is especially true consider how bad Vitor's right eye was swollen already. It was very biased work by Mirgliotta and it made a difference in my opinion. Johnson's game plan was obviously to get on top and stay there, which is the basic game plan of anyone with a huge wrestling advantage. Imagine how much different the Sonnen-Silva fight would have looked if the ref stood them up after 20 seconds each time Sonnen got a take down. Terrible work by Mirgliotta and smells of fix to me.
I remembered watching Koscheck totally dominate him in wrestling, and I thought to myself "He's not going to dominate Vitor the way Couture did at 185". The weight cutting isn't an excuse either because Vitor cut 35lbs to make 185. Johnson just blew it. He had a great right hand that immediately fucked up Vitor's eye and had me thinking "SHIT!!! If he keeps doing that, I'll be rocking a new sig about me being a crossdresser or something!" :: Johnson has become a frontrunner in my eyes. Once he meets someone he can't dominate early, his bigtime weight cutting causes him to gas. He's just too big too close to fight time. I felt Vitor's conditioning would be better and Vitor is accustomed to bigger guys. Johnson looked like a heavyweight, and he's one intimidating looking guy, but he's got to stay closer to his fight weight or he's gonna gas. I still think he can come back and make a lot of noise, but he just keeps blowing it.
Of course the weight was an issue. Johnson was done half way through the first round. He had nothing.
That doesn't make any sense. He's used to going all the way down to 170. He should be much stronger only having to go down to 186 then rehydrating earlier than his opponent.
