Not Sure... HBO was Going to Televise Wlad vs. Haye, but REED Believes they Pulled Out the Instant Haye Did... REED:hammert:
i'd imagine it'd be on HBO WCB like Wlad-Haye was supposed to be. I doubt HBO have any problems with the replacement...they may be even more favourable towards it
just been on the hbo website, and it appears you are right....if so, i'd like to know why. How can HBO justify their commitment to boxing, when they turn down a fight involving two top three heavyweights :dunno:
I have been looking around and the most I have gotten is that the promoters where in talk with both Showtime and ESPN about possibly putting it on US TV...this is a real bad move on HBO's part this is not the time to try and be all high and mighty when you have televised garbage like Kilt V Hasbeen and recently Dawson V Tarver, Berto V Urango
agreed. IMO it's a more competitive fight. it's two heavy-weights fighting instead of an over-hyped cruiser-weight with a big mouth fighting an incessant grappler. Chagaev should have the strength to punch out of Wlad's clinches which will mean trouble for Wlad who basically has no defense except for draping his body on his opponents and his jab.
That's what Steve Kim is writing. Pretty weak. As for HBO's part, there were reports, from Rick Reeno and others, that they rejected Klitschko-Chagaev and wanted the Haye fight rescheduled.
Wlad / Haye was never about a 'competitive fight'... and yes I do note your legitimate point on Wlad's tactics but Im afraid to say,... anything goes in contrast of that Hopkins poll,... the people of Fightbeat have spoken, if anyone, apart from a mere 5 people, say a word about Wlad's illegal tactics, and the fact that they 'aren't impressed' despite him ''winning which is all that matters''..they're contradicting themselves, and typically have double standards and no credibility on any subject concerning boxing, particularly regulation.
Why is HBO so hot on Haye? I doubt Haye could beat Chagaev, let alone Wlad the evil grappler. Did Haye get on his knees for some of the HBO execs or what? God knows HBO has shown crappier fights on WCB.
It is a little interesting considering he's barely been on American television, let alone HBO. There are reports that HBO's a little thin on the remaining money for this year...maybe it's just an excuse for them to save some money...Klitschko doesn't do great numbers fighting in Europe...this may not have done so for them against either Haye or Chagaev.
Good, but now I guess I'll have to record ESPN, ESPN 2, and ESPN Classic all at fight time and all for the next 4 hours just to make sure I get a copy of it.
Yes, and furthermore I was wondering if it were due to the fact that they thought they could capitalise on the wave of rioting british morons that accompany Hatton in abundance?,.. but,.. they did infact reject Froch,..so ... I dont know,... maybe HBO are aware of the deliciously ripped 'body fetish' that Haye seems to elicit to the surface from certain 'excited' fans on the subject of him and his 'refreshing presence' in the heavyweight division...
Wlad looks to be in excellent, excellent shape,.. I dont think I remember him weighing in as low as 240 before... Chagaev, the friendly, pudgey little sack of diseases, is getting pole vaulted.
True, he looks in better shape than usual, Chagaev is at a good weight too, absoluteky huge height differential though, hope its a great fight
Yep,...and if Wlad wins,.. that's the end of that,.. He's the champion, his brother is undisputedly second best,... if Chagaev wins,... he fights Vitali as his first mandatory for the heavyweight championship,... Sauerland, King and Valuev should be erased from everybodies minds,.. they can cry and scream and buy the WBA out,... but it changes fucking nothing, for we know King and his german equivalent, aint putting thier useless behemoth in with a Klitschko..
I'll love to watch Valuev against a Klitschko brother. THAT would be an awesome sight (as Valuev crashes face first to the canvas within a couple of rounds).
Should be a good fight. Chagaev is a smart technically sound fighter. I think he´ll try the same stuff he used against Valuev. Sidestepping Wlad´s jab away from the right hand and landing his straight left down the middle. His small size also might work in his favour, when Wlad will try to wrap him up, because the angles are worse. I think Chagaev drops Wlad early with a straight left, and finished him off with a stepback uppercut around six or seven, when Wlad attempts to grab him. There is nothing flashy about Chagaev, but he can execute a gameplan, kind of like a piss-poor heavyweight version of Bernard Hopkins.
TSN2 is available to Rogers Digital subscribers free during a free preview on channel 98. The free preview ends on August 29 where it will finally become a pay channel.
The Klitschkos sure haven't rejuvenated interest in boxing at all. You'd think tall white dudes as champs would've been the sh*t! Still no real press from my side of the pond.:dunno:
