Hard to say. He never really stopped anyone I rate there. But he was a puncher...I just struggle to call him an all-time kind of banger is all.

I wouldnt call him an all time puncher either, but he's definitely the best puncher that division has seen, thats all I'm sayin.

You might be right about Valdez at 160, that left hook he stretched Briscoe with was awesome.

Also, Roy was on his way to brutally stopping Sosa had they not stopped it so early. Sosa wasnt a great fighter, but he DID have a great chin. Roy hurt him with every punch he threw.

That was a sick KO. One of my favourites of all-time and NOBODY else did anything close to that with Briscoe, because he was as tough as they come. Valdez absolutely drilled him.

Don't forget he sat down Monzon with a single shot as well and runed a number of decent middleweights in his day.

As for Jones v Sosa...well, you're right and Sosa was a tough guy. But that was a light heavyweight fight.

    This sounds about right....great list.

I'd add Moore to Light HWT as the 2nd choice, though Foster was definitely the man.

Not sure about Briscoe...Ceferino Garcia and Florentino Fernandez come to mind, but it's a close call.

    Right on the money. :bears:

Yeah, Pimentel and Olivares should both be in there, but to me, Zarate and Zamora were even harder punchers (not necessarily by a wide margin).

I struggle with Pimentel a bit because of his opposition (WHO he was knocking out).

But yeah, he should be mentioned.

    Peace.

No he shouldn't. This is the top TWO, not top 50. Pimentel fought a bunch of jobbers for the most part and got creamed when that quality of opposition changed.

Why don't we run up Valero as well

I was going to call DonnyBrook on this too. I can't believe ANYONE would call Pimental one of the TOP 2 punchers at batamweight where there were TONS of harder punchers with a richer resume.

Actually, it was Ortho Crusader....I agree with Zarate and Zamora as stated...and said why I didn't include Pimentel.

I was, however, acknowledging that Pimentel should get a mention.

Probably should have been clearer about that in my wording but I figured folks would read my original post clearly...and OC's as well.

    Peace.

My list is based on opposition, KO %, and where they would be fighting today if they weighed in (Hence Fitzsimmons at 168):

Heavyweight: George Foreman / Earnie Shavers
190-200: Elmer Ray / Sam Langford
175: Bob Foster / Michael Spinks
168: Roy Jones Jr / Bob Fitzsimmons (mostly under 168 but above 160 during his career)
160: Gerald McClellan / Stanley Ketchell
154: Julian Jackson / Mike McCallum
147: Thomas Hearns / Felix Trinidad
140: Aaron Pryor / Kostya Tszyu
135: Robert Duran / Henry Armstrong
    130: Alexis Arguello / Corrales
126: Sandy Saddler / Danny Lopez
122: Manny Pacquiao / Wilfredo Gomez
118: Alfonso Zamora / Ruben Olivares
    115: Khaosai Galaxy / Sung-Kil Moon
112: Yuri Arbachakov / Hiroyuki Ebihara
108: Jimmy Wilde / Michael Carbajal
105: Ricardo Lopez / Rosendo Alvarez

    Actually no, you said:

To which Ashes called you on it.

You tried to compare Pimental to Zamora and Zarate. That's a pretty grave error for even a novice. You simply don't know much about boxing to make that comparison.

Where's your list by the way?

Like I said, I should have been clearer on my wording. Already said that was an error.

That's why at the end of that second post I said they should be "mentioned"....as in if there were a list of hardest punchers beyond the top two.

Yet in my FIRST post, I clearly agreed with Ashes' post, and that included Zarate and Zamora. By agreeing that means that would likely be my list or very close to it.

And like I said, I told OC why I did NOT include Pimentel.

It's simple, really. No need to create a fire where there is none. It's nitpicking.

I can go back and edit if it would make things easier for you.

    Peace.

BAMA, just shut the fuck up for 10 seconds. Its behaviour like yours that has guys like Donny spending their time elsewhere. I mentioned Pimentel, before anyone else did. Period.

I don't give a shit where some random guy spends his time on the internet. You made a shitty point and he agreed with your point. Both of you were wrong. I'm glad you two could find solace in each other's shitty point.
