Fucking hell, 2 in one night?? Poor Czar. Only 21 years old, and a tough fighter, fuck loads of heart.
Further proves that the Ref made an EXCELLENT stoppage in the Larios fight. Some refs would have let that continue...
Just the second fight. He was weight drained badly for the fight and didn't have the energy to even stand in there. I heard the first fight had fireworks though, I'll try to find a copy through my contacts.
How hard do you think katsidis punches, seeing as he threw everything and the kitchen sink at Czar, and couldn't take him out?
Katsidis often times punches short very nicely with good hooks and digs...and if he can catch you right he can put you out.... But that said, my impression before Sat. night was that he has good power but is more of the thudding, wear-you-down type of puncher rather than an explosive KO artist (up to Earl he hasn't been fighting at even close to the elite level). Saturday's fight would seem to confirm that, but then again, it's only one fight! Peace.
I agree. He is a thudding puncher, not an explosive KO artist. He is fun to watch, and fuck does he have some guts, fighting hard and winning with his face all messed up like that. However, I don't think he is a great puncher, pretty heavy hands and highly aggressive, but not a true puncher. Also he is not a great finisher. When Czar was geniunely hurt, instead of picking his shots and landing some proper, hard, well placed shots that probably WOULD have hurt Czar more and got him the stoppage, he just threw flurries of complete slaps. Maybe hoping the ref would jump in, I don't know.
Nobody ever said he was a KO puncher, did they? He's a hurtfull guy who will knock you out if you fight with him. Chavez wasn't a KO puncher either...yet 80 other guys will tell you a different tale.
I've only seen Katsidis fight twice. He's a decent puncher and could probably hurt any of the top guys at 135. I just don't know how long he'll be able to make 135 though without feeling the effects in the ring if he's not already. He's already cutting 20+ pounds just to make weight. He may have to jump to 140 before the year is out.
The Nevada Commission is so fuckin retarded! Dont they realize these bullshit 10 oz gloves only lead to more punishment? Might as well just go back to 8.
That's probably true for now but I read he came down from 160 to make weight for this fight against Czar. Maybe that's normal but it seems like he may be a bigger guy than "lightweight."
Maybe not you, but I have read that he is a big puncher. This is only the 2nd fight I've seen of his, he looks fun though. Him against Diaz would be a pretty fucking good fight I think.
Well, he is a big puncher. There's little doubt about that. There aren't many true "KO punchers" floating around though. Barely a handful, if that.
He's a giant of a 135 pounder, as far as his thickness and strength goes. He cuts it easy though, due mostly to the fact that he's young I would guess. He won't be there forever, but for the foreseable future, it'll be a 135 pound charge he makes. It'll take a loss or an offer of a big fight @ 140 for him to think otherwise, Id say.
Katsidis should stay clear of Casa. Old man Casa will cut him to pieces, and it pains me to say that cuz I hate that dirty Cuban bastard!
Katsidis lucked out that that fight wasn't stopped due to his terrible facial damage. He can forget about beating Juan Diaz, and needs a world class trainer if he wants to further his career.
You don't think Katsidis's activity, punching power, and ferocity would be a problem for Juan? :dunno:
When I think puncher, I am thinking of people like Tito, Chico, Pacman, Morales at 122, early Freitas, etc Katsidis clearly has power, but heavy clubbing punches, not a true puncher as such. You yourself made the comparison with Chavez. Heavy handed, but certainly not a "big puncher".
