Light Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman[1]
Middleweight bout: Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen[1]
Welterweight bout: Mike Swick vs. Paulo Thiago[1]
Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller[1]
Welterweight bout: Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg[1]
Preliminary Card (Spike TV)

Lightweight bout: Mac Danzig vs. Justin Buchholz[1]
Lightweight bout: Melvin Guillard vs. Ronnys Torres[1]

 

Marquardt vs. Sonnen is a meaningful fight, and Maia vs. Milelr is interesting, but overall it is pretty weak.

 

Not a good main event but there's not a single bad fight on the card.

Fights of note for me are Torreys vs Guillard, Torreys is a high level grappling prospect that has fought in Triple A organizations such as Shooto and Jungle Fight. Guillard is as talented as anyone, but he always finds ways to give away fights.

Marquardt vs Sonnen is an important fight, althought Marquardt should handle business there.

Rolles Gracie debuts.

And finally the most interesting fight on the card for me, elite prospect Phil Davis debuts vs a very tough guy in Brian Stann. Hopefully we get to see how far along his striking has come. He's got a lot of power in both hands, however his striking has looked very stiff and robotic. However this can be improved and should bode nicely for him with his natural gifts, although he could be faster. His wrestling is top notch and he's and adept learner, winning Mundials among blue belts in jiu-jitsu. Yes it's blue belt, but still shows the potential for growth the 25 year old has. The most impressive thing about Davis to me is his great size. Hes a huge guy, 6'2 likely around 230ish and a frame that resembles GSP.
He's very strong with good top control, and could potentially be the best wrestler in the division in one or two years outside out of Mo Lawal.

 

Garbage. I'll tell you what else is garbage. A fucking PPV WEC card. That shit pisses me off.

 

Yeah, I hope that bombs at an epic scale so they never pull that shit again. And it probably will.

 

It will. It's just lame since it's actually a fight I would like to see, but not one worth paying for.

As for UFC 109, the card is alright, the main event is about 5 or more years late. I would like to see Marquardt vs Sonnen, but only because I am certain that Sonnen is getting brutalized.

a blue belt can mean more than a black belt, it all depends on where they train. this card is a garbage ppv, if it was free on Spike, we would all say it was a great free card. No way in hell am I paying money to see this. And same here Z, WEC ppv's are a stupid idea and TLC is right, the best thing that could happen is it bombs.:shit:

 

This card is crap. The main event is MMA's equivilant of RJJ/Hopteeth.

Marquardt should easily handle boring ass Sonnen, Same with Maia vs. Miller. The only fight that I think would be fun to see is Swick/Thiago.

 

Mike Swick is sort of a boring fighter when he does not ko people in the first 30 seconds.

 

It's a decent card, thanks to the support fights. I'm a big Maia fan so i'm always pumped to see him.

The main event is nothing more than a curiosity....it has no relevance

 

Dana White completely ridicules and insults the free Fedor vs Rogers fight on CBS but gives us two shot old grandfathers in Couture vs Coleman as a main event on a $40+ ppv! Oh Dear! What are doing Dana????????? :atu:

things started off pretty good with the free fights and the serra ko, but the last two fights have almost put me to sleep.

I can´t believe on a streaming website 10 people watched both boixng cards combined, while 30 people watch that UFC event. Coleman/Couture in a world title eliminator for a single belt. That´s like Holyfield/Botha in Uganda in 2010 for the right to challenge Wladimir Klitschko. Now watch the UFC fans here defend what an awesome main event this is.

Thiago is a can. Just getting it in before Swick kills him.
