yep, I'm pumped....Penn v GSP..... I've been leaning towards Penn, but I think I'm gonna go 180 and say that GPS blows BJ out of the water. Penn is like a smaller, better striking version of Mayhem.....GSP handeld Miller quite well, I think he'll get through Penn tonight
how was it controversial??? GSP won fairly squarly....rounds 2 and 3 went to gsp based on the takedowns.....Round 2 was hands down beyond a shadow of a doubt, and round 3 was fairly clear itself....Explain to me what Penn did to win either round 2 or 3....MAYBE he was better on the feet, but not by much in THOSE rounds.....He went for 1 sub in round 3, and that doesnt outweigh the takedowns.....The fight is scored on a round by round basis.....In no way was Penn robbed.....If you want to say "oh well look at the damage blah blah blah", look, 99 percent of that damage was cause by an eye gouge and one other punch....You gonna score then ENTIRE FIGHT TO BJ OVER ONE UPPERCUT???? Get the fuck outta here with that shit That being said, title eliminators should be 5 round fights. No one can say that fight shouldnt have gone at least one more round.
GSP won the fight IMO, winning rounds 2 and 3 in a good tough fight. Tough SOB he is, lot of guts and heart. I loved that huge slam he did on Penn. He picked him up, walked closer to the centre of the mat and just slammed the poor guy hard on his back with such a thud, you could hear it throughout the arena. :2:
penn coulda wrecked the shit outta gsp but hes a fat little piece of shit and needs to get into shape he didnt DO SHIT after the first round
I havent seen the fight. Some of the sherdoggers were saying it was controversial. I'm watching it right now for the first time.
well then there is your problem....Sherdog is a village of about what, 5000 posters? 80% of them are idiots.
I'm really suprised that Rich wasnt able to finish david on the ground....He had plenty of opportunity, but really wasnt looking for a submission
someone with a big punch can knock franklin the fuck out well not even i saw him get hurt bad vs tanner an above average punched, followed up will knock out rich
I thought the fight was dead even, but I'd give the advantage to Penn for having the slightly dominant stand up. GSP was successful initiating the few takedown that he did, but that doesnt count in my book unless it results in a sub or effective GnP. Man I'm confused.
"slightly dominant"??? He may have had the edge, but nowhere near dominant. And the standup in rounds 2 and 3 paled in comparison to the takedowns and the GnP from GSP. Look at all of my postings here, I'm a HUGE Penn fan, but no way did he win that fight.
I thought Penn nutralised GSP's GnP with his BJJ skills. Tying him up with his legs and punching him on the top off the head. I'm not saying it was controversial, I just seemed to be one of those fights that could've gone either way. I'll watch it again.
