My picks are the same, except I'm picking Big Tim in an upset, and Ortiz over Griffen, although I'm rooting for Forest.

The big question is....if the Ortiz/Griffen match is close, who will the judges give it?

A loss to Griffen throws a major monkey wrench into the planned Shamrock/Ortiz matchup set for the summer, and puts a damper on the luster of TUF3.

But a Griffen win over a UFC legend like Ortiz adds to the popularity to someone who is already one of the most popular UFC fighters right now, thanks to his personality on TUF, and his blood and guts style of fighting.

A Griffen win may hurt the UFC in the short term, but in the long term may be very beneficial.

I think what Dana White is hoping for is a win by Ortiz, but in a life or death struggle. This way, Ortiz gets the momentum for the Shamrock fight, and Griffen's rep isn't hurt with the loss.

This would set up a potential Ortiz/Griffen II down the line.

But is Ortiz/Shamrock happening at 205? If it is, Shamrock is f*cked again. He had enough trouble making that weight, cutting muscle and draining himself. Dude's gotta fight at heavyweight.

Good picks. I'm going with Arlovski in a repeat performance except it'll take a bit longer since Tim is going to be fighting with caution.
I also have Griffin over Ortiz.

Thats what I'm sayin,I think Griffen is hype just like his buddy Bonnar.the only reason I see it being close is because I feel Tito's lost a step.

Could I have called the Ortiz/Griffen fight any better?

Ortiz is gonna kill Shamrock, then look for Ortiz/Griffen 2.

I don't care if Tim Sylvia is the UFC Heavyweight Champion. He still isn't a top-10 heavyweight.

You deserve an applause!:2:Griffin beat him easily, 2 rounds to 1. But UFC is all about business now, not about fair fights. As you already said though. Good call.

I find it funny that one judge had the Tito/Griffin fight scored 30-27 for Tito.:nixweiss: So how could anybody who isn't living in the nuthouse able to have scored the 2nd round for Tito? He couldn't score even 1 takedown, and just got his butt whupped that whole round.

Like he said, The UFC is committed to a Ortiz vs Shamrock rematch. The shit is, Ortiz will beat him again becuz Ken is an old man, and, Griffin will face the winner with THAT winner facing the old Chuck Liddell.

For a long time I have been scoffing at those who say that PRIDE is better than UFC. Not now.

Fedor would beat Sylvia and Arlovski back to back, one right after the other.

Rampage would beat Tito, Griffin and Liddell back to back to back.

    Pride owns the ufc.

You must not have seen Jackson fight lately. He is on a sharp decline, at this point I would pick Lidell without a 2nd thought.

I think that was a bullshit stoppage. Though Arlovski was caught with a good shot, the ref practically called the fight 3 seconds after he went down. He was still defending himself at the time of stoppage. He was nowhere near in danger.

You musta been drinking while watching it, Bob. Arlovski was done and he even admitted it. His eyes closed and he fell right after the shot. Tim was on top of him, slamming rights off Arlovski's head and Arlovski's defense against that was using the palm of his hand in a half-assed way to block the shots. Not exactly a tactic taught in fighting camps in how to defend against punches.:jester:
Let's just say now, Arlovski has the worst chin in history. If you even touch it, it just crumbles. Oh well!:nixweiss:

Sure, but my point is Jackson has looked like garbage and that guy was making a VERY bold statement considering how Jackson has looked.

Lots of people calling this an early stoppage. Why? :nixweiss: Arlovskie put his hand to the side of his head but he was still getting punched in his head. he could not defend himself. Oh and yeah his chin is just garbage. :jester:

Round 3 was close, and round 1 could have been called a 10-8 round.

Round 1 of Ortiz/Griffen could have been called 10-8, but I wouldn't have scored it that way.

How the one judge gave Ortiz round 2 is beyond me.

Round 3 could've gone either way, but I gave it to Griffen. Sure, Ortiz got the takedown, but Griffen did more from the bottom than Ortiz did from the mount, landing those elbows.

Griffen was a completely different fighter in rounds 2 and 3. I don't know if he was nervous, or what, but he was completely outclassed in round 1, and the fight could've been stopped. But in round 2 and 3, he frustrated the hell out of Tito.

They were talking about Ortiz being hurt and needing surgery...could we be seeing Shamrock/Griffen in a few months?

As for Arlovski/Sylvia, I was one of the few people anywhere to pick Sylvia. But be careful and keep your eyes open, you don't want to get crushed by the people jumping off the Arlovski bandwagon, which is happening at a record pace.

Before this fight, I had seen people on different sights saying Andre would hold his own with Fedor...now, people will be denying that left and right.

I give a ton of credit to Sylvia for recovering from that big right. It looked for a second that we were gonna see a repeat of the first fight. But Sylvia wanted it more, and it seemed Andre believed his own hype.

    A rubber match is Imminent.

It's funny how you say his chin is shit seeing how he got caught in the thoat with that right hand after he missed his right hand. That shit was a fluke, Arlovski is going to knock Tim the fuck out in the rematch. Arlovski did not admit he was out, when Rogan asked did he agree he just said sure the ref stopped the fight what was he supposed to do go apeshit and act like a bitch about it? it wouldn't have changed the refs mind. He was not hurt I mean he still had his head up the whole time and when the ref stopped it he got up smiling that shit was a fluke and it won't happen again.

Ortiz won but not by much.

    round1 - Clearly Ortiz
    round2 - Draw
round3 - Griffin (but very close)

Its simple, Tito's takedowns and ground work were far more dominant than Griffin's standup.
