Pretty good for a Fight Night Card: Here's the bouts thus far on the main card:

Demian Maia vs Jake Shields - Shields' wrestling is superior but Maia is a submission machine. Shields could opt to keep it standing for awhile. I have to think about this one.
Thiago Silva vs Matt Hamill - Silva, he's better standing, and Hamill was retired for a year. Way to climb back into a buzzsaw, Matt.
Rousimar Palhares vs Mike Pierce - Palhares is really explosive, but Pierce is a good tough fighter. Hard for me to call.
Erick Silva vs Dong Hyun Kim
    Fabio Maldonado vs Joey Beltran
    Rafael Assunçao vs T.J. Dillashaw

I'll post my picks later. What do others think?

Maia is better than Shields at pretty much everything, boring fight either way.

    Looking forward to Erick Silva.

I'm looking forward to the main card.

In my opinion, Mike Pierce won his fights with Koscheck and Hendricks. He should be fighting GSP. Poulhares is going to get steamrolled.

Personally I love the Maia-Shields matchup. It will either be a very sloppy striking battle or a very high level grappling match.

You also can't miss with Beltran-Maldanado.

Lastly, poor Matt Hamill. What did he do to Joe Silva to pull this match-up?

i'd rather see maia vs. shields in an adcc fight, not a cage fight. shields's last few fights have been unwatchable. maia at least goes for submissions and is successful for the most part.

Silva was exhausted 10 seconds into the fight, and Hamill looked like he was play fighting, trying not to hurt his opponent.

Hopefully we never see either of them again.

I liked that reversal from shields. This is gonna be a long tiring grappling match. Neither guy can seem to pass guard.

Damn. Shields doing a good job of getting top position. Maia might be better in terms of subs but shields has a superior top game

Shield is 100% stalling and the ref do nothin except warning him. Worst, I expect the judges to give him the round even though Maia landed some good shot in the 1st half of the round

Very close fight. I thought shields won but expect maia to get the decision.

Nah, the decision was fair. The striking was about even but Shield out-grappled Maia.

The last round decided it and Maia was content to coast while Shields grinded it out.

Pretty impressive for Shields considering Maia's recent run and the fight being in Brazil.

I do not get how laying in full guard constitutes winning a fight but my interest in this sport has even dwindling so I am not losing sleep over it .

in terms of striking, neither guy did anything really. maybe the 5th frame, maia landed a couple of decent punches. but it was shields who was able to get the reversals and gain top position. watching guys stuck in full guard sucks, i agree. i'm sure joe rogan would've gone joey styles had he been commentating.

I agree, Shields is good in controling and dictating position but he does nothing with it. Maia at least did a little bit of dammage.

And standing, I thought K-1 Maia landed the better strikes.

Actually Shields landed more significant strikes than Maia according to Fight Metrics. Shields also passed Maia's guard 5 times to one guard pass for Maia. Shields also reversed bottom position twice while Maia was stuck in bottom position with no reversals or sub attempts.

So like it or not, Shields had the better night.

It's shocking but fair. It's not the first time for Palhares.

It was blatant the other night. The ref actually had to pry Palhares off. Pierce tapped repeatedly and was yelling "tap tap tap" and Palhares cranked away.
