Wow, that is going to be one hell of a fight. I think Kampmann bloodies him up and hammers him with crisp counters to take it by decision. The one thing you know is they are going to stand and bang. Damn, that is one hell of a matchup.
Agree. This is another great match up. Alves has only been beaten by wrestlers that can lay and pray over the last several years. This should be a stand-up war. I favor the punching power of Alves. The one issue with any Alves fight or predicition is his weight. I don't know that he's ever made 170 comfortably. I wonder if Alves or Kampmann win impressively if they might get a shot at Condit. Kampmann is a guy that was on track to a title shot before the razor thin decision loses to Shields and Sanchez.
kampmann himself is a big welterweight. how many times has alves not make weight? the dude should just move up to middleweight although he doesnt really look like one.
He couldn't make weight for the Huges fight. And he came in at 174 for his title eliminator with Jon Fitch. He also initially weighed-in 2 pounds heavy for his last fight with Papy Abedi. Alves was also popped for using a diuretic. Alves is just one of those guys that is too big to be 170 and too small for 185.
while it look like a good figh on paper. I have the feeling it's going to turn into a bore, with either man scared of the power of the other guy. alves has looked so lethargic recently
Alves probably spends most of his recent camps just losing weight. I agree he hasn't looked the same for several fights now. He used to look a lot better.
I like Kampmann more but I think Alves is the favorite. He is so much more explosive than Kampmann, who doesen't really have a great chin.
that's what I'M thinking too, chin will be the difference in this one. If Kampann can withstand Alves power, he wins though.
Kampmann is going to use his reach and height to stay outside. He'll look to counter and avoid leg kicks. I expect him to win a close one, and I also expect Alves to try to take him down a few times. Kampmann's speed, accuracy, and movement win this for him.
My vote is yes. But then again, I am one of those that thought he won the Sanchez and Shields fight. The problem is that he didn't get the win on paper and that means he's 1-2 over his last 3 fights. If he wins tonight, he'll be .500 over his last 4. Tough to make a case for him in that light. But he is the last guy to beat Condit so a win over Alves certainly gets him close.
I just think that Kampman gets hit too much. His defense is horrible. With a puncher like Alves, that spells doom.
Kampmann has the ability to do exactly what Buddy described. But he almost never uses it. I think Martin will get drawn into a slugfest and goes to sleep against Alves. He hasn't fought a big puncher since being stopped by Paul Daley.
Unfortunately, this is how I see it as well. Kampmann, is like a sleeper favorite for me, but I have always been puzzled by his fight strategies. He seems to fall in love with his ground game at times, and everyone knows this is the weekest part of his game. It is greatly improved but he's still a kickboxer at his core. I thought he beat Diego and Shields too, but he leaves too much to guess sometimes.
Alves made weight! Now there are rumors that he is already around 200lbs. Gaining 30lbs in just a few hours. Is that even possible?
I guess if you can lose 30 pounds in 24 hours by basically dehydrating it probably makes sense you can put it back on by eating and re-hydrating. Doesn't sound fun.

I can't believe I missed this shit, I thought it was tommorow night, Trplesec should have informed us earlier it was today. :crying: The Kamp though, what a guy!artie:
Alves really is a mental midget. Speaking of midgets....McCall was fucked in the ass big time by the judges.
I guess the judges screwed up the McCall scorecards. Fight ruled a draw. McCall still was screwed. He won that fight.
What really sucks is that they had a tie-break round all set up. Damn, I actually scored the 1st even; 2nd for Johnson; 3rd for McCall.... I wanted my damn 'Sudden Victory' round!!! Bastards..
I had it two rounds to 1 for Ian McCall and I personally know Demetrius Johnson. I can't believe the judges misread these cards. Dana White should have an immediate rematch on the next card to rectify this. Does anyone know of what the plans are? They could just add one more match to the tourney, let Benevides and Johnson fight and the winner isn't crowned champ until they fight McCall.
