Name those Fighters who CLEARLY had the TALENT to Achieve GREAT Things, yet NEVER Fulfilled their Potential...

Zab just MIGHT B THE Most Physically GIFTED Underachiever of ALL Times...

This Cat Actually FORCED the BEST Fighter N the World,Floyd Mayweather,to RESPECT his Speed...We've ALL Known Zab has the POWER to Stop ANY Guy N his Weight Range...

Yet Here we Stand,Discussing Yet ANOTHER LOSS where Zab had his "Moments" Early...

What OTHER Fighters Come to Mind, who CLEARLY had the ABILITY to Achieve CONSIDERABLY MORE than they Actually did N Boxing???...

Nunn, Zab, Jose Luis Lopez, both Ike's, all underachievers.

Oba Carr was what he was, a good fighter who just wasnt good enough to beat the elite. Dont see why he should be on this list.

I just remember the hype about him, that's all. He might not be right for this list, but he did underachieve in my eyes. So did Vargas as that goes.

Vargas' prime was cut short by Tito. But thats another thread of its own, fighters who were ruined. Mel Taylor & Vargas would rule that thread.

LOL I hate to disagree with you again but, Grant was always shit. He had no real talent, only thing that got him as far as he did was his size. Soon as he stepped up he was exposed as a fraud. As opposed to Bowe who had tremendous talent to go with his size, and only put it together once in his career(the first Holy fight).

Even though it won't be popular here, I still insist Zab doesn't have the talent neccessary to succeed at the elite level. He's a 4 round fighter and clams up when hit. Sure he has speed and power, but he doesn't have the will to win.

He took some bombs today and you gotta give him credit for his heart to stay up...but 3 punches a round won't get it done. I think Zab's more overrated now than ever. :dunno:

I agree with you for the most part. I dont think Zab had the talent to have been RJ or anything, but can you at least conceed that he woulda gotten a lil further if he was born with half a boxing brain?

That's the one that always comes to mind.

So does Bowe, definitely. Funny how they're tied together.

    Peace.

Oh, no doubt. I think he'd have beaten Spinks the first time and beaten Pineda too. Maybe even did better against Tszyu. But Cotto? I just don't ever see him beating Miguel, simply because of his stamina and defensive issues.

He just stood still and turtled when hit...but then again, Cotto hits like few other fighters in this day and age. He's this generations JCC, IMO. He just breaks guys down and makes them look dead by the time the fight is over. It's great to watch.

Regarding tonight's fight, I actually think Zab has slipped. He's not as quick as he was 6-7 years ago, I think his reflexes and legs have diminished a bit. Not making any excuses, cause I think Cotto would have beaten any version of Zab, I'm just saying.

And yeah, Cotto is comparable to Chavez, only with a far inferior chin, and less defensive skills. But other than that, they compare. He's definitely alot more like Chavez than Tito. Felix was a puncher, he could put guys out with a few good shots. Cotto chops you down like JCC.

Judahs first loss involved getting KO'd very early in the fight....and he can't be said to have blown it, just lost, fair and square,. So that can't be counted.

The Baldomir fight..is for me what clinches it. How he lost to him.....:dunno:

Losing to Floyd......he could have done that anyways, even if he was a mental giant. So...strike that off.

The Cotto fight...ain't seen it. But it sounds like Zab folded.

Yeah...Ibeabuchi is a prime candidate, of course.

We should include David Tua, too.

Hell, even add in Fruitass. He had a bright future until horrible Suarez fucked up his style, and robbed him of his power.

I dunno. Ace reminds me a bit of Zab, in that they're both wall mount fighters. The kinds of fighters people have on posters and stuff cos they LOOK great. They both had the same issues internally, IMO.

Zab Judah is talented in terms of power and speed...but honestly..his defense has always been suspect as well as his ring generalship. He's not as talented as his fast hands and slick style would have you believe.

    in answer to your thread:

    Michael "Second to" Nunn!!
