Denis Inkin just pulled out of the fight with Froch for the mandatory 168 shot eliminator. Meanwhile Sturm and Erdei fight non-entities, possible the best JM fighter Dzinziruk fights another poor opponent, Chagaev pulls out of the Ibragimov fight to take on matt skelton, and the "100 year talent" sits on his arse fighting bums and waiting for a title fight....is Universum the most cynical and dubious of the big european promotional companies out there? When is the last time they have put on a significant fight? BTW, include giving no attention to sidorenko and sending kotelnik continuously abroad for his title shots in the list of complaints
they seem to be the worst, their motto presumably "Wir mussen den schlechtesten Boxer im Universum finden"
Agreed. I started writing an article about it, which going at my lazy rate should finish just in time for Sturm vs. Pittman and Erdei vs. Abron. The total combined records of Pittman/Abrons opponents is something like 300 wins and 250 losses, and not a single win over a top 50 fighter in their respective divisions, but hey they are undefeated, so we can sell them to the stupid audience. Even worse it´s on network television, and germans citizens are mandated to pay a monthly fee for these tv/radio stations, so they can provide a high quality program, and that is their apparent idea of it. They have NEVER shown a full Kotelnik, Sidorenko, Dzinziruk, Kraj or Alekseev fight, but we are stuck with bums like Brähmer, Krasniqi, Dimitrenko, Ulrich, Sturm, Erdei and all the female fighters doing their mismatch routine. At least with Sauerland they show their best fights/fighters regardless of weight or nationality and we have Arena/Öner to watch Gamboa/Solis/Barthelemy on HBO/Showtime and ESPN, because they aren´t afraid to showcase their talent. It´s funny how predictable Universum is, cause you can tell, they will be first in line for a vacant belt to be pulled in or to pick up the shitty regular WBA title belt, and have the champion stripped. Sturm won his belt against Masoe, and Taylor was stripped, Arslan wins his belt against Hill, and Haye will vacate. Now they are after the blind man Anthony Mundine with the 1000 year brainfart Brähmer. Inkin is probably pulled out of the Froch fight to bite his time for a WBO title, against a complete bum of course, but that´s what I love about Calzaghe, he never vacates his belts, despite talking about it for 10 years. It drives U nuts, and poor Mario Veit had to pay for it. :: Since Michalczewski/Hill, German-based fighters have taken part in two unification fights, Beyer against Kessler and Ottke vs. Mitchell, three if you want to count Klitschko vs. Ibragimov; In 10 years.
Thats one of the issues, Kohl has no interest in building outside interest in his stable...at least warren recently and to a lesser extent sauerland have shown an interest in putting together meaningful world class fights which are also of interest in the US, Warren probably because he doesn't have the sweetheart TV deal he used to have....I just knew that Inkin was going to pull out of the fight in the UK against Froch, there as just too much risk for a fighter Universum obviously fancies to go places...
Nah, they don´t give a rat´s ass about Inkin. I assume they hope to stage an all Universum vacant WBO title fight between Inkin and Brähmer, who are rated #1 and #3. Another option would be Mundine, if he proves to be blind on one eye and that might still be enough to handle Brähmer. ::
I dont know if Mundine / Brahmer is really viable, as Mundine likes the idea of his own 'German establishment' in Sydney, implimenting voluntary defences against handpicked, undersized scrubs. Brahmer, the bust, is likewise, too dangerous for the flow of Mundine's OWN fraud ridden events, I think you will find it's a mutual disagreement.
i dunno about that, maybe there are way more dubios ones - but Universum is one of the biggest and therefore the fans are rightfully upset with them - and BIG TIME! Last big fight with Universum i think was Chagaev-Valuev - but that was to GET the title so it doesn't really count... ::
True, I had forgotten Chagaev's fight with Ruiz and his enforcing the mandatory against Valuev, both qualify I guess...and I think the Valuev rematch might be closer next time round
