Vargas-Mayorga re-scheduled for Nov 23.

I hate to say it, but I'm changing my pick. Originally I favored Nando, but now I pick Mayorga by KO.

 

good call. at first i was going w/ vargas, but now i'm leaning towards mayorga. i'm quite surprised that this fight is happening after all.

 

I'm not. Vargas wasnt gonna bitch out. But he probably should have, and retired.

 

well that and i'm sure he doesnt want to miss out on another payday. smart move to cash out i guess.

 

I'll stick w/ Vargas...he just has MORE time to lose all that extra weight..and not kill himself doing it....

with the condition he has he shouldn't do any physical excercise so he will get very heavy very quickly

I am on this same changing my pick bandwagon. Vargas physical condition and mental motivation is going to be pretty low I would imagine.

 

Well a few years ago Vargas said he would die in the ring before he quits..or something like that....:doh: what is the medical problem he has?

 

No its a dumb move cause he doesnt need money. He's financially set, or at least he always brags that he is. I dont think its about money, its about pride with Nando. But pride can get you hurt. I still hope he wins, but I think theres the potential that Mayorga will give him a beating. If Mayorga wins, I hope its by quick KO, cause I dont wanna see Nando take another beating.

I was watching "The Champ" last week on TV, and I had Vargas in mind as I was watching the end.

 

i picked vargas over oscar, shane (both times) and he let me down in all 3.

i picked tito, forrest, and stinks beat mayorga, but picked him to beat oscar.

i guess mayorga is the safer pick. ::

 

i dont think vargas will get hurt. maybe knocked out, but mayorga is damaged goods himself and also can't punch all that hard at 160+.

so far in his career he's 0-4 in ppv main events. lost all of them by TKO.

perhaps vargas wants to have that high profile win before he goes out.

 

Only time I ever picked Vargas was against DLH. Against Tito, and both times against Shane, I knew he would lose.

Ive never been wrong on a Mayorga pick. I picked him over Forrest in the rematch, I picked DLH, and Tito to beat him, and I was one of the very FEW who picked Spinks to beat him.

 

Either one in thier primes woulda beaten Phony, esp Vargas.

 

But did you pick him to beat Forrest the first time?

Yup. I picked him over Six Bums in the rematch.

 

Pffffffffffffftttt... , Margarito would beat Mayorga with his 'butterly proboscus' in one hand, and beat Vargas with Fraud's nude wife in the other.

The pre-Tito Vargas woulda layed an ass whuppin on Phony.

 

Going for broke isnt a good idea for Vargas. I think it'll backfire now.

 

If Buddy Rydell can unearth the old S/O thread, it will be shown that I not only picked Mayorga, but picked the round AND scenario. :bears:

Of course I went on to pick Forrest to beat him in both of their fights :: , though I did picks Spinks to beat him. Any pick after that doesn't warrant credit, as Tito and DLH were foregone conclusions.

 

As for this news:

Jay Larkin was dumped by Showtime shortly after Castillo-Corrales II, the latest in a long string of Showtime PPV failures.

With this fight now wedged in between Cotto-Mosley and Mayweather-Hatton, curious to see who Showtime fires after this one bombs. I don;t think it would've fared well next weekend anyway, but will do even worse on Thanksgiving weekend, preceded and proceeded by two of the year's most anticipated fights.

 

Margarito beats both of those guys, although it's time for him to move up. Matter of fact, it's BEEN time for him to move up - he's been at 147 since he was 18. But none of those guys can handle Margarito for 12 rounds. No way.

 

Mayorga is 0-2 in PPV main events and was knocked out in both.

Please. A prime Vargas would beat Margarito's ass. Phony in alot of ways was tailor made for a young Vargas. Phony's slow, looping punches would have left Vargas with endless counter oppertunities, and on the inside, Phony would discover that he's NOT physically stronger than Nando.

He has more of a chance vs Mayorga, but I think the 03 Mayorga was too strong, and quick for Phony and woulda won a decision.

 

I picked Mayorga before and nothing has changed.
