A press conference was held at Gallagher’s Steak House in Manhattan on Wednesday, to officially announce the long awaited world heavyweight title fight between WBC Champion Samuel Peter (30-1, 23 KOs) and WBC “Champion Emeritusâ€￾ Vitali Klitschko (35-2, 34 KOs). The always confident Peter stated: “I am making one promise today. I will knock Vitali out. Trust me. I will knock out Vitali, and then I will beat his brother (Wladimir Klitschko). There is no doubt about that.â€￾ Vitali countered: “I promise the fight will not be easy and it won’t go to the scorecards. It will probably end between rounds 4 and 6. I have a lot of presents ready for Peter for October 11th.â€￾ The two power-punchers with a combined 84% knockout ratio will meet on October 11 at the O2 Arena in Berlin, Germany. The Peter-Klitschko showdown will be televised by Showtime and the telecast will also include the light heavyweight shoot-out between IBF Champion Antonio Tarver (27-4, 19 KOs) and the young, undefeated superstar Chad Dawson (26-0, 17 KOs) that is being hosted the same day at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.

My guess is Big Bro Klitschko breaks a leg on his way up the ring steps. If not, he will probably be able to win a decision. Isn't Vitali the more robotic one?

I would really like to see some of Klitschko's sparring before this fight.

Yep, that's what they used to say. He's also the braver one who comes to fight and not paw your face off with a jab all night.

Peter is in for a surprise if he thinks this will be like the Wlad fight. Vitali will come at him.

    That's what Peter wants!

Peter was actually angry during the press conference. At other press conferences, he's cheery and was even doing a dance at the presser for Wlad. His manager is the one that shouts. This time, it was different.

Well, it's easier, stylitically, for Peter when his opponents come at him.

But Klitschko will be punching from a much different trajectory than he's used to, and if he doesn't go the body - which he usually doesn't - he'll have a hard time just headhunting against Vitali (until he gets tired or injured, if it gets that far).

Vitaly more robotic style will serve him better vs. Peter....Wladimir does a bit more moving....Vitaly will land the hardest right hands Peter has ever tasted...

but something thing to factor in...

how much does Vitaly have left? He has fought in years...fragile fag keep getting hurt in training....

Peter is a arrogant shit and will most likely be looking past Vitaly..thinking he has fought in years..can't be that well condition to go rounds...and rounds..etc..

McCline damn near KO'd Peter. An Aggressive Wlad would have KO'd him IMO. Vitali will do a number on Peter.

Jameel F'n McCline using the Nightmare as a yo-yo is still one of the funnier sites I've seen in a boxing ring in a while.

At least Klitschko dominated the rest of the rounds when he fought Peter and finished it making by making him do a pirouette.

McCline had Peter nearly finished and then looked like he just remembered he was brought in to lose.

He's earned the name Small Time for a reason.

Wlad could have blasted Peter out if he had more balls. He fights scared though and still damn near dropped Peter with a single shot in the 12th.

The McCline fight was comedy, how Jameel let him survive that fight is a mystery to me.

If that was the Vitaly of six years ago, he´d do a number on Peter. Now I have no idea how this will play out. Logic says a four year lay-off is just too long, but Vitali is still working with Sdunek, and that is a guarantee he´ll be in the best possible shape, assuming he doesn´t pull out prior. But even at peak physical condition, there´ll be ring rust, what will his reflexes be like? I think if Peter doesn´t blitz him early and Vitali gets into his robotic rhythm, he´ll wear Peter down quickly to a 8th/9th round stoppage.

Exactly. I would assume Peter's plan would be to jump on him early and not let him get into any kind of rhythm.

Vitali was a better fight but there is no telling what he'll be like now. I wouldn't a cent on Klitschko. Too many question marks.

Vitali will show all of you who doubt it that the old great fighter still has a one big injury left in him. You'll see

I have no idea how this fight will plan out, presuming that it goes ahead and that Vitali does not pull out with a seriously fractured pubic hair and take a six month lay off...

A fit, sharp and active Vitali would have laid Peter out in short order IMHO, but Vitali is never fit, can't be sharp and hasn't been near a ring for years :dunno:

I still can't pick Peter though. He's just shit, plain and simple, and even against this version of Vitali, I wouldn't risk a single penny on him.

    MTF :dunno:

What's the white robot going to do if he wins?.. Will he fight on?.. or will he hold hands with his brother and jump around in a circle and say, "we did it, we did it, we did it! yaaaay",.. and then retire immediately?.. Fuck that,..boxing should be no ones oyster, despite what desperate Fraud groupies like to propergate,... I hope Peter EXPOSES the European, as it's done..:crafty: .. the cheesey white robots can't have it all thier own way.

I kind of want Vitali to ko that fool. I am not a fan of either guy but I just can't stand Peter. Not the way he fights but the way he talks and comes across.

I remember when he came on the scene he was a little more humble. Now that fool thinks he arrived and is very fucking arrogant.

I hate his "Whos next?" bullshit line after a win.

America is an egoccentric nation, Peter always had the tendancy, but never the cultural influence, nor acceptance to be glorified as a cunt. :crafty:

Aw jeeze! This is pathetic. I mean if Peter actually trained seriously, or learned something from being in the ring he could go somewhere. Instead he chooses to languish and wait until someone comes along and teaches him a lesson. Jamie did it Toney did it but Peter still doesn't get it.

The problem is that he is not so young anymore and Vitali is smart enough to know what the mechanics and psychology of Peter present to a good opportunist.

Why pull out of this fight with an injury? No need at all. As all my fightbeat brothers have observed the Nightmare is ripe for the taking. Vitalie knows it as well.
