I would think the Gonzalez fight is stylistically a better comparison to how Wald pussy/Witherspoon unfolds. I think Timmy would use his superior boxing skills to get around the telegraphed jab and inflict enough damage, but he would take some in the process. Wald pussy probably would last longer than 5 rounds though as he's more competent than Gonzalez, imo.

Generally. Observe what's happened these last ten years when old style 'aesthetic' fighters like Floyd, Old Hopkins & Fat Toney have fought more basic 'do what works' guys. If there weren't limits to robotic simplicity there would never have been reason for more advanced skill sets to evolve in the first place.
Wlad isn't a limited simple robot. Thats the problem. He has the best set of feet in the business. Manny Steward keeps saying it and people keep not listening- he is faster than people think. A lot of that is down to his feet. His hands are also fast but the feet is what has him in range when he wants to be and out of reach when he wants to be. The case can be made for some sort of a well-timed trap set by a skilled fighter, but.......anybody getting blown out by Bonecrusher might just get blown out vs Wlad. I say might, because he is cautious, but that in itself is a problem rather than a relief. There are basic laws of physics at work here. Unless the old "Sam Langford Could KO A Heavyweight" nonsense is applied, we have to assume that a 208lb man just has a much harder time hurting a 240lb man. Not only is Witherspoon slower and smaller than Wlad, he is slower and smaller, either or both, than the guys Wlad has lost to- none of whom blew him out in a single round either.
Name me an era where Hopkins, Floyd & Toney would not have been considered as extremely skillful guys. The fact that they are doing well is not exactly a proof that this era is poor. Also, no amount of skill helps if the opponent is physically too far superior (fast, strong, tall, whatever). Thus, if the fighters are about as good physically, skillful guys take over, but if someone comes up with more physical development, technique has to catch up with it too (not saying it has necessarily happened)

Nah my discrimination is different & I've made it again and again by now - are you cheating to fight or are you cheating to escape? One is in the spirit of what you're being paid for, the other cheats not only your opponent but the people paying you & in the long run, the sport. In the case of defensive 'clinch & stop' (& the second part pisses me off as much as the first) you're also wiping out a whole legitimate dimension of the sport to cover up your own shortcomings in schooling.
