He should do better against Ward stylistically than Kessler did,.. but still,.. it'll only end badly, and a rare gem like Jermaine doesn't deserve to feel like a failure all the time,.. he's probably getting used to it now but it's not his fault, he does everything he can to prepare to win, he just seizes up mentally. One thing he can hold onto, on indulgence,..is that he fucked up the heart of all the devils who worship Hopkins, and he can take Hopkins arse to the grave with him, he owns it.

He doesn't come across as money oriented, as such, but there could be issues on the side too.

I just hope he ends up well and healthy and I hope he has a woman he can trust who doesnt keep him in the fight game to keep her flush.

As for DiBella........never liked the goombah Wall St. Punk.

It's not only money he's fighting for.....Taylor strikes me as a person who self-loathes himself and it's only natural that he loathes his own supporters even more.
He fights on so as to embarass his poor, misguided supporters even more.
Getting brutally knocked out by bums, being a coward and a quitter....
Some of those things Taylor already achieved, some of them he strives to achieve....All in an effort to further embarass (as if it were possible) guys like Kauki, etc....

Taylor ISN'T a Money Hungry, "Bling" Type of Guy, but REED Thinks Taylor's ACUTELY Aware that this is his LAST Chance @ NICE Boxing Paydays...& REED Thinks that's @ the FOREFRONT of WHY Taylor's Taking this Fight, MORESO than Any TRUE Belief that he can BEAT Andre Ward....

Yeah, but he should have had that mindset vs Abraham- he could have floated through, dropped a dec and got ready for another payday. Instead he got so badly iced it took years off his career. I think he really is an enigma. He reminds me of Gerry Quarry- if he spent half as long trying to safely negotiate the rapids instead of making points he might do a lot better for himself.

You know what? Taylor will probably win and wont even know how he did it.

That said, with Ward being the most likely {read "least-less-likely} American fighter to win the tourney, its hard seeing Jermaine get the decision anyways.

it seems fishy that Dibella would just leave considering Taylor got 2 big payday coming. Probably a loophole in the contract that enabled Taylor to get out ( or renegociated, something Dibella wasn't willing to ). If not, major props to Dibella even thought I'm glad Taylor continues on

I agree. If not, this is one of the most honorable and decent things I have ever seen in the sport which is why my gut reaction is there is another reason.

Taylor can still bang with that long right hand of his, Ward's people had really be prepared to analyze him as Andre likes to slide into the pocket from left and right 45 degree angles, one wrong timing move and it has the potential of being lights outs either way concerned here.

Taylor is not a puncher AT ALL. He was not a puncher at 160 AND HE IS pillow fisted at 168. Taylor has never been a knockout guy and now he can't take a punch. This is a tough way to make a living and he shouldn't be doing it anymore.

I think Ward is gonna shine here and whup Taylor like he was a overtired and overworked Bus driver roaming around the dark streets, slightly drunk

    my thoughts exactly.

To be fair, DiBella has been emotional after Taylor's fights in the past, i think there is a genuine closeness there. But then again, in this sport, it is hard to imagine any promoter walking away from a payday. Promoter's aren't famous for their honourable acts of compassion.

Nah, DiSmella is a punk. Who the Froch is Froch? Remember that....he needs to go back on the hustle down in Ozone Park, ripping of bookies and running numbers down in Nassau County. Hope he is never seen in boxing again. Maybe him and Hendry Hill can go back to jacking cargo out of Kennedy Airport...or the recently liberated Dumbfella Junior Gotti might have a few tricks for him to turn up in Westchester County, the future is bright for the bald, rosey cheeked goombah.

Agreed. It seems a bit too nice and sincere a sentiment, what other promoter would do that?

Might be true though, I don't know much about him, but DiBella might be a good guy and/or like DiBella.

He's surely a better man than the likes of Shaw :kidcool:

I cannot believe you are all falling for this. If DiBella cared, he would have never let him in the ring with Abraham to begin with.

As for the corpulent Shaw, he showed major compassion when he tried to get Dan Birmingham to pull Lacy out of there vs Calzaghe, with all of 7 seconds left in the 12th round.

I'm not exactly falling for it, I did say "it seems a bit TOO nice and sincere" etc, ie hinting there is probably another reason.

I merely pondered the possibility that it could be genuine.

    I too pondered that possibility.

.00008 nanoseconds after pondering it, I discarded it.

Jermain Taylor drives a freakin' Lamborghini, as I remember.

I don't care if he's money-oriented or not. He's earned his right to be money-oriented and if he wants to continue in this tournament, I'm all for it. If DiBella wants to step back, I've got mixed feelings on that, but it's his right, as well.

But I wonder if you and Irish 2002/2003 are basing your belief of Taylor's mindset and motivations on anything other than not much?

Taylor will be staggering around in bewilderment.. like a 56 year old greyhound bus driver who got fired and then had to turn the heat off in his apartment, so he just got a big handle bottle of vodka and got plastered.. he'll be stumbling around questioning how he got to where he is in life.. with ward playing the part of "Life" just giving him a BEATING and making people witnessing it feel bad for him
