Just a few more weeks before the end of the year. Would you say this year was great for boxing? I'd say it was. Sure there were some blunders like Fury vs Ngannou, Shakur vs Santos, and the countless Youtuber fights (Paul bros, KSI) but overall this year we've seen some of the fights that fans have been wanting and actually living up to the expectations.

Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr
    Naoya Inoue vs Stephen Fulton
    Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia
    Teofimo Lopez vs Josh Taylor
    Devin Haney vs Vasyl Lomachenko
David Benavidez vs Caleb Plant & Demetrius Andrade
Leigh Wood vs Mauricio Lara & Josh Warrington
    Jose Ramirez vs Richard Commey
    Brandon Figueroa vs Mark Magsayo
    Joe Joyce vs Zhilei Zhang
    Emmanuel Navarrete vs Oscar Valdez
Subriel Matias vs Jeremias Ponce & Shohjahon Ergashev

And we still have Haney vs Prograis, Bam Rodriguez vs Sunny Edwards, and Inoue vs Marlon Tapales to look forward to.

It was a great year through July...

    Paramount and Fury ruined it.

none of them fights listed were great, competitive outcomes that warrant FOTY consideration. some big (money) matchups got made, but none resulted in anything classic. good year that had more promise going into the fights than it delivered afterward.

Bud, Inoue, and Fimo (in that order) had the three best performances of the year.

Nah, no fights really stick out this year for FOTY.

foster vs hernandez was definitely round of the year, if not the best fight recently.

Idk about a great year, but even with the issues from Fury vs Ngannou and Showtime pulling out of boxing, it's been one of the better years in a while.

2023 is like The Dark Knight Rises.

Brilliant over the first half. Fell apart near the end.

Fury arguably losing to fucking Francis Ngannou make it a pretty bad year for boxing. In terms of fight getting made, it was a great year, but the results in the ring was pretty ho-hum

Despite some of the bigger notable fights being a bit one sided that doesn't take away from the number of very good/great fights that took place and helped make up for 2022's lackluster year. There's at least a good number of FOTY contenders, some fights with astonishing comebacks.

    Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde
Leigh Wood vs Mauricio Lara 1
    Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington
    Luis Nery vs Azat Hovhannisyan
    Subriel Matias vs Jeremías Ponce
    Brandun Lee vs Pedro Campa
    Emmanuel Navarrete vs Liam Wilson
    Joe Cordina vs Shavkat Rakhimov
    Devin Haney vs Vasyl Lomachenko
    Jaime Munguia vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
O'Shaquie Dominique Foster vs Eduardo Hernández
    Robeisy Ramirez vs Rafael Espinoza
