http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=005061&cat=boxer What. The. FUCK???? The WBA title is called the "WBA Ordinary World" title? Is this to distinguish it from the "Super" WBA title? WTF is it? A title belt autographed by Duran Duran?
....perhaps it is just boxrec taking a stand against the WBA for their ridiculous undermining of their own title(s) i'm all for it....if someone wins a WBA title when there is already a 'super' champion in place, then people shouldn't be fooled into thinking that the new champion is THE champion historically i guess it is unnecessary.....guys' achievements before the WBA went mad shouldn't be deminished
Agree. The problem is the WBA not using the 'interim' designation. A top champ should be the WBA champ or the WBA super champ (meaning a WBA champ with another big 4 belt). WBA interim champ means there is another fighter out there with a stronger claim to the WBA title...either the WBA super champ or a WBA champ who is on a hiatus for whatever reason. Which is how everyone else does it.
agREED. I thought things were bad when there was only the WBA and WBC to deal with. Things have become much worse now. And when people try to explain the "logic" behind the various interim and super duper champions, it just gives me a headache.
I remember watching a fight with a buddy of mine a few years back and it was for the WBC Intercontinental soemthing or another and my friend said "Didn't Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat hold that title at one time?"
Now you've done it. Someone is bound to recognize Steamboat as a legit heavyweight champion now. ::::
Nope. Ricky Steamboat only had the regular version of the inter continental title, not the super deluxe version.
the best joke title diss I have heard is when the always quotable Greg Haugen at the tail end of his career fought for something called the WBF Welterweight Championship when interviewed before the fight and asked about fighting for the WBF belt, Haugen said the following: "WBF? What the hell is that? The World ButtFucking championship?"::
REED is STILL Waiting on a Sanctioning Body to Call themselves the W.H.O. & While we're on the Subject of FRIVOLOUS Belts & Champions, what's Up w/the Recent Trend of YOUTH Titles???...Is there an ELDERLY Champion Designated by the Same Organization???.... REED:dunno:
How about different belts for the good-looking and ugly? At least in these cases there would be a plausible reason not to rank the other bodies champion. Just imagine the electricity in a Eldery vs Youth unification bout!
There are three plausible reasons that come immediately to mind. 1. Why take up a ratings spot for challengers for a guy who isn't? 2. Imagine the pettiness of moving opposing champs up and down the ratings or removing them completely and the return-in-kind responses. 3. The other sanctioning body champs (usually) get special treatment for being able to cut in front of mandatories if the body's champ wants to fight another champ. This has gotten much, much better in the 00's than it used to be.
Ahem....:laughing::laughing::laughing::l That Greg Haugen what a funny fucker, thankyou Cdogg for that priceless gem that no one here has the vast knowledge of other than you, thankyou for this treat... We can't actually thankyou enough. :hammert::mj:artie:
That was an understatement. I am seriously considering sex-change operation to have a chance to marry cdogg one day because of that legendary post of his.
Yeah you are right, I actually should be ashamed that I actually didn't think of the idea first, and the fact I didn't even come close to giving Cdogg the actual appreciation he really deserves...I have failed...
