I know. I thought it would have been overturned also but I guess it happened to fast for them to justify a no-contest. I thought an immediate rematch was the least they could do.

There shouldn't be a no contest, but there should be a 3rd fight mandated.

Ridiculous. Was the 2nd fight ordered by the WBO?

Yep. I would have liked to see a rubber match between them. I don't know if Holt is interested in giving him a rematch though, but I doubt it.

Didn't Toney get a rematch with Peter due to public outcry and tons of bitching?

Yes, but I think they also fell back on controversial scoring. Which was bullshit. And it was a different sanctioning body.

Regardless, either Torres got fucked and it should have been a no contest with an immediate rematch or the headbutt wasn't significant enough to take away Holt's deserved win and therefore, an immediate rematch isn't appropriate. This isn't something like 'bad' or questionable scoring. This is looking at one event, making the call, and moving on.

How about the headbutt wasn't signifigant enough to take away the win but was signifigant enough to create doubt. They hardly ever will take that type of call and make it a no contest, they will often times mandate a rematch though.

what are you personal thoughts? It looked to me that without that headbutt Torres might have survived the other punches. I'm not saying it was intentional, simply it happened and a rematch would have been a good idea since they won one fight each.

Im sure the TV networks will make it happen. A third fight is mandotory between Torres and Holt.

Agreed. That´s just the WBO´s way of saying, you pay some extra for an eliminator against a bum, then you can have your rematch. Or you´ll negotiate it straight up with network support and we get a higher fee.

This sucks for Torres but after a ko like that I guess it's best that he takes a rest. That ko was brutal.

I think a no contest is warranted. I have eyes. I saw the headbutt (on replay) and it was a very hard headbutt. The follow-up KO punch occurred too quickly afterward to give credit to Holt.

If you go the other way--that Holt deserves the win, then I think it is shaky to think the WBO should mandate a rematch. Would I like to see a rematch? Definitely.

This much is true. Anyone with two eyes and even decent vision could tell that it was the headbutt that badly hurt Torres.

Torres is a bum. Cotto lovers love to hype him. The headbutt hurt him but it sure as fuck didn't knock him cold. It wasn't a purposeful headbut and it was mostly Torres' complete lack of skill that caused the headbutt to occur. The guy got ktfo. I can't believe anybody thinks a ktfo is controversial. The bum got served.
