I remember this article. I hope that accusation by his ex-GF was a phony one. Poorly written article by the way.
That article SUCKED. Nothing more could be said. Telling a boxer to kill himself via blowing his brains out. What kind of crap is that. Anyway , who has to gasp for breath because some girl is pulling a gold chain thats on his neck ? Regardless how thick it could have been , the clasp would break long before he was so short of breath from being strangled that he had to let her go. Right there , thats a pile of bullshit. Even if that is all true , like someone said , the article was written so poorly and it really did suck.
Taylor pled guilty to a lesser charge on that. Hopefully the charge was exaggerated but he probably did something bad. I wonder if the brain damage had an effect. Some of the effects of it are people being more violent, and having more problems in their personal life.
Whoever Bill Kelly is, he's a fuckin dickhead! Blow your brains out? Taylor should find him and kick his ass for that! BTW did I read in that article that Rocky Graziano was one of the greats?:: Graziano wasnt shit!
Graziano was slightly more skilled then Mayorga but had a huge heart. I would say Graziano was about as skilled as not a young Vargas but about as skilled as the more shot Vargas that just fought Mosely. He would atleast make an exciting fight .. Yeah , I agree. That Bill Kelly guy sucks !
Kelly dosen't know anything about boxing. Taylor was one of the best all around fighters I had seen in years in the late 80's-early 90's.
"Now, instead of going down in history alongside the Sandy Saddlers, Willie Peps, Kid Gavilands and Rocky Grazianos." :: at the writer throwing Graziano along with Pep, Saddler, and Gavlian. Graziano picked on welterweights more often than Terry Norris.

Younger fans prefer the modern fighters. Older fans prefer the old timers. Other fans have mixed and more diversified views. Those who favor the modern fighters argue that the men have gotten bigger, faster, and stronger over the years. They also point out that techniques have improved with the passing of time. Those who favor the fighters of the earlier years contend that the men grew up in tougher times and were "hungrier," more rugged, better disciplined, and better conditioned. I do not believe that all fighters and athletes necessarily get better with the passing years. Athletes do get bigger, faster, and stronger over time. Techniques improve too. But, that does not mean they are better. Different periods of history impart certain attitudes and practices due to the "temper of the times" and the conditions under which the people live. Athletic skills are affected by mental conditioning and discipline as well as physical attributes and techniques. Consequently, performance peaks and ebbs in different periods of history and fighters are better in some periods than they are in others. It is my definite belief that different periods of history produced better fighters than other periods, but the very best fighters of all-time from any era could fight with each other on a competitive and "near-equal" basis. In these rankings, I have included a man in several weight classes if I believe him to be among the greatest at that weight. Now, instead of going down in history alongside the Sandy Saddlers, Willie Peps, Kid Gavilands and Rocky Grazianos, they will speak your name in the same sentence with Riddox Bowe, Ron Lyle, Mike Tyson, Arron Pryor, Tony Alaya Jr, and guys of their ilk. Guys who had it all and blew it. I cry too much for the man and keep remembering Kipling's advice to the young wounded British soldier: Just roll to your musket And blow out your brains And go to your God Like a soldier! WTF? Not only was it poorly written, but the guy could've at least used a spell-check or made sure he spelled the names of the fighters right.
Who cares. You shouldn't post up articles that tell fighters they should go commit suicide by blowing their brians out. It's one thing if a poster says it in a thread or something but , its totally different when a site props up an article that states something like that. IMO that guy had no real clue as to what happend between Taylor and his girl. He is talking on hear-say and not using any facts. The point he brings up that Taylor's girl choked him with a gold chain until he couldn't breath is bullshit right there. Show me one person ever that has been choked out using a gold chain from around their neck. That shit would break long before it even started cutting your air.
Why don't you ask the police, not me. Why would he plead guilty unless he actually was. Then again, with our criminal justice system maybe you are pleading guilty and getting a few square meals. C

Yeah but that in itself was not my point. We just shouldn't have articles that tell fighters they should go kill themselves especially for something that might not even be true or completely exagerated. If a fighter does something horrendous and a poster makes a thread about it and others state they think this guy should die etc. , whatever. But to prop up a legit article like that is just unprofessional.
