IMO, Cintron and Judah are the most devastating puncher's in the division. They both have the type of power that can end fights with one punch. Cintron's power comes from the leverage generated by his form and lanky frame. Judah's power comes from his freakish handspeed and somewhat heavy hands.

After those I'd have Cotto. Definitely not a one punch KO artist, but has the type of power that is consistent and bruising. Usually ends fights due to the amount of damage his opponents have accumulated. Hence, on his record there's a lot more TKOs than straight up knockouts.

It becomes pretty debatable after those 3. At some point in time, I've seen all of the following fighters referred to as huge punchers to just average punchers.

Next on the list, I'd put Margarito. Not a one punch KO artist either. His power comes from his strength and size. The type of power, that may not be as bruising as Cotto's, but as a fight wears on, it takes it's effect. He's more of a volume puncher than a power puncher. His power could be more devastating, if it wasn't for a lack of decent punching technique and handspeed.

After Margartio, I'd have Mosley. I read somewhere on here yesterday that Mosley had concussive power. :dunno: Maybe at 135, but at 147..I'm just not seeing it. Other than KOing a shop worn Vargas, who has he KO'd lately? He couldn't KO Cruz, Estrada (who Cintron KO'd, though he hurt him to the body), or Collazo (who was seemingly in more trouble against Hatton and Rivera more so than anytime in the Mosley fight). He has good power at 147 (attributed a lot to his handspeed), but in my opinion, far from concussive or devastating. Though it seemed to me in the Collazo fight, he was more worried about handspeed than sitting down on his shots.

Then, I'd have Joshua Clottey. Not a really big puncher, but the type of fighter who can get your respect with his handspeed and accuracy of his shots. I think if he had just a tad bit more of one shot power, he could have stopped Chico (R.I.P.) and had Margarito in trouble with those counter right hands he was stunning him with.

Lastly, I'd have Paul Williams. For someone with Williams' build, you would think he could generate a lot more leverage in his shots than he actually does. This is due to poor punching technique, and regularly in fighting, where he smothers his own power. If you ask me, Williams is the definition of volume puncher. He may overwhelm less durable or smaller fighters by his workrate alone. But I don't expect to see him stopping any top welters any time soon.

    Thoughts?

Judah over Cotto is an interesting choice. Judah does have the speed/snap that can catch you...but Cotto has the heavier hands.

Cotto is more powerful than Judah.

Judah, in my opinon, is always danger, and can hurt you at any given moment, from the 1st to the 12th (that is..if he's still letting his hands go then  ). Cotto is more likely to hurt you late in the fight, after his body work has taken a toll.

Cintron I would say is the most heavy-handed in the division, though not necessarily the hardest puncher.
I'd say Cotto as he generates such leverage behind his shots and is so precision in his placement of them.

I don't see Williams belonging on this list unless you make it top 100 welters.
He gets ko's because he can land his punches, not because they are particularly hard shots.

Even though he's a mental midget with slow hands, Cintron can hit like hell. Harder than anyone else at 147. Cotto comes in second. Zab hits hard at 147, but I think he was a bigger puncher at 140.

I see you point but surely if he lands his punches and they knock people out he is a big puncher?? Hes looked it when I watched him - unorthodox sure but hurtful...

I could be wrong. I just don't see big power in his shots. Guys like Jorge Julio or W Matthysse, even though not as good, hit harder, imo.

Williams has his share of early ko's and I consider that the easiest way to determine power on paper.
