He sounded really motivated prior to the fight but got shot out. Is B.J past it? Overrated? Or does Edgar just have his number?

Edgar's movement was the key. That and BJ is cocky enough to keep doing the same shit over and over and still think he will catch Edgar. He changed nothing from the first fight save for a couple of late TD's, which he should have started trying from the beginning.

It's possible Edgar has his number, but that's still not a great spot to be in when the guy who has your number is the champ.

I suppose he could wait around and hope to challenge whoever beats Edgar.

It won't be long. Maynard is next in line and Edgar isn't big enough to deal with his wrestling.

I see Maynard winning. BJ will have a fight in the meantime maybe against a top contender like Sotiropolous. And then it's Maynard-Penn in a fight that BJ can win.

The way Edgar was able to take down BJ, I would be seriously worried for BJ against Maynard.

Maynard will be the new champ very soon though.

Well most of Edgar's success in taking BJ down was due to his constant movement and striking. With Maynard, the only threat is the take down.

And outside of Edgar, only GSP in their second fight has had success taking Penn down. BJ has great take down defense in general.

If the fights were scheduled, I would pick Maynard over Edgar again, and BJ over Maynard.

Something tells me that is the way it will play out. So in essence, Penn might only be one fight away from another title shot.
