Hey guys. What's the deal with Anthony and Lamont Petersen? Anthony Peterson (lightweight) 28-0 (19) Lamont Peterson (jr.welter) 26-0 (12) I can remember seeing them featured on FNF a few times a couple of years ago (or so), it looks like they're both still undefeated. If memory serves me they looked pretty good and were at least entertaining. Back then they appeared to be on the fringe of getting into the mix in their respective weight classes (light and jr.welter) both of which are LOADED with name opponents. Where are they? Why aren't they in the mix? :dunno: Who would you like to see these guys fight?
Because neither of them want to lose before they have the chance to make a lot of money. It's the way the sport works. In other words, they're both in protection mode until such time as a perceived threat comes along that isn't as threatening as he appears (for example, Spinks' freak ascension to unified welter-weight champion, giving Judah his one and only chance - two if you count the rematch he was given - to win such a title). This, of course, gave way to Baldomir of all fighters becoming the welterweight champion, and hence PBF (who would've never toiled at 147 had it not been for that golden opportunity as we now see - his having never fought another top ranked 147 pounder after that).
Lamont Peterson is supposed to fight Willy Blain for the interim WBO belt in about on a month on the Top Rank/HBO card featuring Juan Manuel Lopez-Gerry Penalosa.
You mean turning a thread about the Peterson brothers into a rant about Floyd Mayweather Jr.? That was nicely done.
It was related to the subject though,..and cited a prime example of the kind've protectionistic and oppurtunistic path that perhaps the Peterson brothers are following.
Agree w/ the Floyd Mayweather take advantage of an easy Unification at 147....but Mayweather proved himself at 130 and 135 fighting the BEST guys in BOTH DIVISIONS....Corrales and Castillo..... Petersen brothers haven't done SHIT....
Then after he stunk out the Castillo rematch in what nobody could possibly consider 'vindication' ... Fraud has a hawaiin holiday for 6 years and is annointed p4p best in the midst of it. Now please change the nappy in your av mate, it's dreadful, Id have preferred a string, that 'width' is all wrong, all wrong you greek.
No Im talking the stretch of 2002 onwards where we saw Fraud take on Gatti to conquer 140,.. and Baldomir, to conquer 147. What a BEEASST. It's possible the Peterson brothers are having a pad and pot, waiting for thier own Gatti and Baldomir a piece.
The Peterson's have 54 Fights btwn Them & we Still DON'T Know if Either can TAKE a Punch...REED has LIKED What he's Seen from them, but NOW is the Time to Step it UP.... The Blain Fight is Intriguing Since Both Guys R Taking the Risk N the "Prospect" Phase, but IMMEDIATELY After that, the Winner Needs to Face Top 10 Guys...As for Anthony Peterson, he has YET to Fight a Guy w/Even an OUTSIDE Chance of Beating him... REED:hammert:
You say Mayweather stunk it out vs Castillo in the rematch....YET u are all over Taylor nuts about his to very close/controversial victories over Hopkins... and Yes Mayweather has been in a vacation for the last 4-5 years...avoiding the best guys at 147....
Always a pleasure to hear someone blaming a typical eye searing Hopkins fight, on the opponent, ....nice one Dzinziruk.
Lamont Peterson is now the mandatory challenger to Timothy Bradley's WBO belt, after having won the interim strap against Willy Blain. Anthony is scheduled to fight on the Donaire-Concepcion ppv next Saturday against a fighter with a lot of losses (Luis Antonio Arceo).
