About to head to bed to caress the future wife but before that, I was wondering where Hatton might go from here. Here's some options I thought of: Fight with Witter + Domestic appeal, so a marketable fight - Witter is a slickster which might trouble Hatton Fight with Bradley + Winnable fight - low profit/risk ratio Move to 147 + Lots of marketable fights - Lack of success at weight in previous ventures What do you guys think?
a farewell fight against khan would be a fitting end. hatton may very well win, and won't be seriously hurt by khan's flurries. and if khan loses he can just put it down to inexperience, while enjoying probably the biggest payday he'll ever have.
he should retire he's not going to get anywhere with his current trainer....seeing him keep to the outside against Pac and throw jabs was comical <!-- / message -->
a farewell fight in Manchester at 160 or 168. That's the only fighting he should do from here on out.
If he's going to keep fighting, he should face Witter in England. After that, win or lose he should think about retiring. Sure he lost to Floyd and Pac but that doesn't exactly mean he can't box anymore.
I agree, I know excuses will come for Hatton from others, but he can still fight and IMO it is more about his opponent last night and the contrast of styles. I do not believe everyone Pac ktfo should retire.
Seriously there can't be any excuses. He was fighting at his favored weight and got KO'd. Hatton has lost to two guys: Pac and Floyd. Those two guys would beat anyone else in and around Hattons weight class. Hatton can still be effective at 140.
Hatton should retire. He really has nowhere else to go but down from here. Sure, he'd probably still be able to win a world bauble at 140, but he'll never get back to the level of the Floyd/Pac superfights; in both of which he's been found extremely wanting. A great career, lots of money and his health intact. It's time for him to hang 'em up... MTF
I've rarely seen a fighter come back from a beating like this. Pac shattered Hatton's confidence and chin at the same time. Unless he's aiming for a few years at the domestic level, I think retirement is his best option. IMO, Hatton entered the ring as a very good fighter and left it as a ruined fighter.
a final fight against witter would be too acrimonious. there's a chance hatton might lose, and losing to witter would be a far too bitter end to his career. but if he fought khan, even in the unlikely event that ricky lost, khan is the nation's blue-eyed boy; there'd be no acrimony, a win-win situation for the fighters either way. they'll be able to stand in the middle of the ring and congratulate each other, say "well ricky was just too old, khan too young and quick for him."
i AGREE. HAtton was competitive with Floyd at least. If he loses to Witter or Bradley then he should hang them up.
1. Get rid of Mayweather as a trainer. 2. Do NOT fight above 140. 3. Get a comeback fight in Manchester. 4. Aim for one of the titles at 140, be it Bradley, Khan, Witter, whoever.
Lets face it: Hatton is UK's Fernando Vargas. Every time he fights an elite fighter he gets KTFO. He should fight only B class contenders and overrated european boxers...the kind he can beat. Otherwise he will end up with more KO defeats.
He should just retire......You could hear Floyd in the corner after round one...Yelling you can just run in there without a jab and try to bully him...WE BEEN WORKING ON IT SINCE DAY ONE MAN!! The problem is it seems Ricky can't change the way he fight no matter who he brings in he reverts back to the bully u style fighter...Honestly that was a mofuking scary knockout...and im sure he WONT be back after seeing it on TV for himself...
Zoo was an overrated cunt after he got lucky with Judah and the heaven sent fight with geriatric shot Chavez. No one that loses in his prime by TKO to Vince Phillips should be considered elite.
If they can get their act together with a new trainer. I see Pac is on his way up to probably fight Mayeather within a year. We'll see how that one goes. Right now he should be focusing on getting back to title contntion at 140. He should get one more fight and be right back in that picture.
Vargas stepped up right off the bat. He had alot of great close fights with Tito, De la Hoya, Mayorga, Wright, Shane. To me it's totally unfair to compare the 2. Vargas was much better.
Hatton should pray Khan beats Kotelnik and that would be good coin and an intriguing match, though perhaps a tuneup first. Heck maybe Hatton and Campbell can duke it out, or Hatton-Urango 2 for the IBF trinket.
