no doubt he can beat all of them. Silva, Sonnen, Okami should be in front of him. The rest i have no problem if you rank him before... How do you see him against Palhares or Maia - especially Maia - you think their BJJ neutralizes each other?
In Palhares case, better standup and cardio. Palhares has cardio for one round. That and Jacare actually has a pretty sizeable BJJ advantage as well. Palhares isn't nearly as accomplished as those two. Maia and Jacare on the mat is a toss up, but Jacare is just a much better athlete and striker, and he could also take Maia down at will. Maia would have to get lucky to submit once Jacare takes top position as well. I mean, if you look at it. Jacare's fought wrestlers in like his last 3 fights and has had no trouble getting takedowns. Maia couldn't even take down Anderson Silva.
I just checked where Mousasi ranks, since he KOed him and therefore had to check the LHW ranks on sherdog. He ain't even top 10. But the best is Griffin at 5 before Bader, Jones, Lawal and Mousasi... ::
Yeah i figured so. Pretty impressive that Roger Gracie holds his own with a guy like Souza. I was thinking about betting him against Prangley - then the odds went to shit and I didn't - now I'm pissed at how easy that was... ::
Yeah, "objective" rankings are pretty stupid. Forrest lucked out against a jacked up Shogun and won a gift against Rampage and ever since he hasn't done shit. He's not a very good fighter at all. Ace should beat him.
Yeah...Roger is the best grappler in the world. I was actually reluctant to include him on my LHW prospects I was considering doing but it's tough now because he's putting up these gaudy accomplishments so early in his career with his world class pedigree. If he ever gets 100% serious he'll be something to behold. The most impressive thing about Roger is that the guy just flat out knows how to fight. Even when he couldn't take down a HOF wrestler in his last fight, he just knees the guy in the head and gets him down on the mat anyway. Pretty crazy for a guy who trains not much other than gi grappling.
You think - I heard he trained with GSP. It looks like he knows his striking needs to be better also... I checked his BJJ record. It's like he only loses to two people Jacare and this Ribeiro dude. But he also beat them a couple of times... Seems to be a day form thing with them.
Xande...:: That's another guy that needs to get his ass back into MMA. Guys got some striking potential as well as the ground skills.
I do like how Jacare has no one to fight in SF though. He'll probably fight Cung Le next. Especially considering Le never really lost the belt. That or yet another match with Mayhem that no one wants to see.
Cung Le sucks. He shouldn't even be in the title picture. He is only there because he's a San Jose celebrity.
I used to think more highly of Le until he started doing movies. I think Le and Rampage are great examples that you can't do MMA part time and be considered among the best. That being said, Le has an exciting style which will always make him a fighter that Strikeforce wants in the title hunt. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a Le-Souza fight. Le is a difficult guy to take down and could be a problem for Jacare.
they were talking about a middleweight tourney, I can't really think of 8 guys at MW that are tourney worthy. Jacare, Robbie, Manhoef, Mayhem, Le, after that I'm really not sure?opcorn: I guess this Luke Rochold(sp) kid, not very sure on him haven't seen him but maybe once or twice.
I have seen Prangley fight a ton of times, the guy really looked bad. He can fight much better than that. I agree.
