Assuming that it is true that superior American athletes are buisying themselves elsewhere, which individual or individuals do you think are the uncrowned heavyweight champions of the world at the moment?... They don't have to be limited to Gridiron or Basketball ofcourse, big American men drive nascars and play golf too, and you know, you may also be of the opinion that some ...ah,....Quarter-backs(?)...are the champions of divisions a little smaller than heavyweight, where Europeans inexplicably hold world titles like, 168lbs for example.

Serious thread, following on from the popular American theory, feel free to contribute.

Given that the heavyweight division is at it's shittest, I'd say 'take your pick'.

Brian Scalabrine is too busy "dominating" the end of the Celtics bench to be worried about boxing. :nono:

Not one. Just because you are a big, strong, fast and athletic sports player doesn't make you a boxer. Nobody in the NFL or NBA could even go three rounds with a worldclass heavyweight boxer.

The MIGHT of EAST has taken over. Since Americans have been beaten out of heavyweight, their media tries to cry that the division is at its worst state ever. So keep watching your black and white photos from the past, now that free competition has arrived, you have no room :warning:

Who is Reggie Bush, and what definitive attributes has he exhibited in his sport, that would make him a lock to destroy the division if he merely picked up a pair of gloves tomorrow, has he taken a fierce ball to the face and, took it extremely well? suggestive of a granite chin perhaps?,.. Has he tossed the ball from one side of the field or court to the other, suggestive of a bit of power and snap in the arms?... if there was a tourniment between seven thousand of the hardest gridiron and basketball players in America, to compete in a knockout format, to decide which individual will have the simple task of snapping up all the belts, would Reggie Bush prevail?....Please elaborate a bit more, as to why Reggie Bush is the uncrowned heavyweight champion of the world gentleman. [IMG] I'm only here to learn.

:nono: and for all those who are not taking this seriously, if you don't truelly believe that the reason why Europeans hold belts is because Americans are playing other sports, then stay away, this is not a place for the facetious, there are plenty of people who have staunch faith in this theory, allow them the liberty to persuade.

Reggie Bush has one significant attribute which will make him a force upon the world boxing scene.

Get ready Kauki.............................get ready...............................it's because he is an American!:bears:

He also has agility. He can break arm-tackles in the backfield.......................provided those arms are not attatched to bodies.

He has talent......................and potential. Like Roy Jones Jr. he will not be asked to fight the best to prove that he himself is the best...................but it will be universally known to be true.

Did I mention he is also American?

Ingenuity, know-how, stick-tuitiveness, Apple pie, Ford trucks and Hugh Heffner. That's what we are known for Kauki and that is why Reggie Bush would knock all those Euro bums TFO!

Several writers from some of the biggest boxing websites have cited this theory to the extent that it is supposedly the leading cause of European belt holders, they've endorsed it with the utmost seriousness, therefore I'd like a technical explanation starting from the atoms that weave American genetics together if possible. I wouldn't want to think it was some kind of bitterness induced complex that causes some outrageously empty outbursts that plagues American journalism covering a sport that has global participance :dunno:...I mean, surely not.

kauki, all the american heavyweights right now are rather shit, when compared to previous ages. it seems sensible to suppose that the george foremans and larry holmes of today are drawn into other sports.

We are a melting pot and our genetics are obviously superior to yours, which have been diluted by the various inbreeding European monarchies through the ages. :nono:

If anything the Heavyweights have devolved in the last 20 years. Darwin must be rolling around in his monkeybone coffin right now.

any number of defensive lineman and linebackers could have been dominant heavyweights if they trained in a boxing beginning at an early age. some nba players as well.

not o'neal tho, we've seen him fight. he cant.

Not a basketball player, but definitely Magnus ver Magnusson! :bears:

Nah just playing, but you'd be fooling yourself if you don't think one of these athletically gifted, behemoths could have been a champ had they been groomed for boxing at a very young age (just like every other elite fighter).

People like to shit on the likes of Michael Grant, but the fact is, he may have had the size, but he wasn't athletically gifted or talented enough to play pro ball.

Yet, with barely any amateur experience, he was able to become a contender in the heavyweight division, and was able to beat a former olympic medalist.

    Weirder things have happened! :slap:

Maybe if some skinny, little nerd, who gets picked on, learned how to box at a young age he could become champion of the world one day too? Oh wait

Yep, that goes without saying, most boxers are actually failed football and basketball players who weren't tough enough to cut it,.. They were probably bullied and smacked around in the locker rooms and eventually chased away, that's where boxers are born, huddled scared in a gym down the road, having to resort to becoming heavyweight champions to pay the rent.
