It was awesome. Man, when Oscar landed that combo at the end of the 10th round to wobble Vargas I was loving it. I really didn't like Fernando.
Hard to Say... REED Watches Each of them a COUPLE Times per Year... The Vargas Fight had more DRAMA,Cause there was a LEGITIMATE Chance that he Could've KO'ed DeLa...Plus,Vargas' CONTEMPT 4 DeLa Added to the Drama.... Fuck it,Give REED DeLa vs Vargas SLIGHTLY... REED
Vargas-Hoya is an overrated ass fight! Up until the end the fight was good, but nothing special. The ending was more dramatic than Mosley-DLH, but overall DLH-Mosley I was a better, more action packed, faster-paced fight. I'll take Mosley-DLH I over DLH-Vargas anyday.
UNDOUBTEDLY the Vargas fight! The Mosley fight is overrated and the reason for this is because it quickly followed the disappointment which was De La Hoya-Trinidad.
I loved the mosley fight, because shane stood his ground and did what few people could do, stand and trade with de la hoya. Too bad neither could KD each other. the Vargas fight would've been better if it were vargas pre-Tito
definitely ODH/Vargas. it was continuous action. and their styles meshed well. and there was virtually no holding whatsoever. as exciting and fast-paced as ODH/Mosley I was, they got tied up quite a bit, and so there was a lot of start and stop - Mosley grabbing ODH behind the head, and everytime Mosley would land a big right hand he'd hold ODH too.
I watched the Mosley I fight only twice: enjoyed it a lot the first time live on PPV. On second viewing it wasn't as entertaining. On the other hand the Vargas fight has repeated viewing value. Could it be because I hate Vargas guts? Maybe...opcorn:
I enjoyed the Mosley fight more at the time and even more today. It was fought at a very high level, the pace was good and they were two P4P fighters in their respective (or near) primes. The Vargas fight was also exciting, but featured less quality, IMO.
I like DLH vs. Vargas....... I don't know why but i never got into the DLH vs. MOsley fights...:dunno:
DLH-Vargas had more back and forth, which created more drama. Shane-DLH was a damn good fight, don't get me wrong, but very little momentum shift. Mostly all Oscar early, but once Shane took over, that was it. DLH took over in the Vargas fight midway through, but Fernando was still in the thick of things before getting caught late in the tenth and then for good in the 11th. I felt like I got my money's worth (so to speak) from both fights, but more so from DLH-Vargas.
I think Mosley-Oscar 1 used to be an overrated fight, but these days it seems to have settled into what it truely is, simply a good fight. To be honest I'd rather watch Mosley-Oscar 2 than 1. I recently rewatched that rematch and actually found it more enjoyable than the first time, whereas the 1st fight I found really good the 1st time but not so much the 2nd. Based on that I'd have to say Oscar-Vargas was better.
I'd take Mosley-DLH I over ANY Gatti fight, cause it was fought on a MUCH higher quality level, and with way more skill involved.
but i doubt you jumped out of your seat during mosley-dlh. if you didnt cringe or jump out of your seat during gatti-ward, then you'd be lying.
I'm telling you the truth... If SAME De La Hoya -Vargas fight took place at the time when De la Hoya - Mosley 1 took place (immediately after Tito-Hoya) and the Mosley fight switched places in the same manner... There wouldn't even be a discussion
both were great action fights, but the Mosley fight had two guys undeniably at the very top of their game, where as there are always doubts about whether Vargas was ruined by the Tito fight. Dlh-Mosley
Please. Ever since Max Kellerman on Friday night fights said "De la Hoya-Mosley was fought on a very high level" that's what all fans are saying now...as if it's original to them or clever! I'm sick of hearing it!! Same with "A Jab beats speed"...ever since Forrest said it. Guys please think for yourselves. Oscar was mindlessly slugging that night...what was so "high level" about that fight? Leonard-Hearns 1, now THAT was high level fighting. In any event, high level or NOT...Castillo-Corrales SMOKES De La Hoya-Mosley...and neither of those guys were known for boxing skills. They were just brawling toe to toe...and that fight...may I say it again....SMOKES Mosley- De La Hoya 1.
