    Oscar or Floyd?

Simple question. Want the opinions of the forum.

Obviously The Sly One would vote for Floyd and Double L will vote for Oscar but I'm curious to get the views of the rest of you.

My reason for saying Floyd, is not just because he's my favourite fighter (honorable mention to Manny Pacquaio) at the moment, but because I recently looked at both fights.

Oscar was probably hurting Gatti more, but he was getting hit often by Gatti and Arturo never looked discouraged until the final 15 seconds of the fight just before his corner threw in the towel.

If I remember correctly, Oscar was bleeding from the nose and mouth, and although it was a one-sided beating in Oscar's favour, Gatti was still able to make it a fairly exciting fight while it lasted.

Against Floyd, however, Gatti was beaten from pillar to post with absolutely ease and seemingly very little effort from Mayweather, who left the fight completely unmarked.

Mayweather-Gatti was an embarrasingly one-sided fight...whereas De La Hoya-Gatti was an exciting beat down.

Floyd. De la Hoya got dropped in their fight. The only time Gatti touched Floyd was when the touched gloves before the fight.

Oscar was able to take out a younger fresher Gatti in less rounds. Not making excuses for Gatti, but Gatti was destroyed way before Floyd ever fought him. Gatti was into many wars before floyd fought him. I can only imagine how much brain damage gatti has. He must be close to retardation right now

Oscar punished him much worse, but Mayweather beat him easier. Take whatever you want from that.

That don't mean anything. He is a bigger guy then Gatti. Floyd is smaller. Gatti even rocked De la Hoya a few times and dropped him but the ref didn't call it.

    Reasonable argument. I respect that.

However I would counter that Gatti was better at 140 than he was at 147 and had more confidence in his abilities going into the Floyd fight (after trouncing Ward and Millett amonst others...)

Oscar gave Gatti a worse physical beating, Floyd was more dominating (at least Gatti hit Oscar and bloodied his nose).

Floyd beat Gatti when he was 4 years older, but at a weight class where he was being successful.

    Brutally: Oscar
    Convincingly: Floyd
Impressively: Floyd, by a slight margin.

So did Oscar and in my opinion, worse than Mayweather did.

Our former editor scored nearly every round 10-8, Craig. And he has a point. Oscar's punches might've been harder, but Mayweather seemed to be hurting him more.

    Correct! Styles makes fights.

It has no significant bearing on the actual matchup itself..however I'm just asking a question and if this question offends you...you always have the choice to stay the fuck out of the topic! :warning:

    ....

Floyd beat him more impressively, he barely got touched. I would rather be Floyd against Gatti than Oscar against Gatti.

 The fuck they were. Oscar almost beheaded Gatti in round one and was knocking him stupid.

Mayweather beat Gatti easier and more impressively, because he pounded fuck out of him AND didn't get hit. Oscar only did half of it, but I do think he dished out more clout.

I wasn't going to say anything, but the problem with making references to horses in every response to my posts is that it will lose the humour factor and get very stale very quick.

If I were you, I'd try to mix it up a little bit..try to be witty, creative...and then drop the horse/equus stuff every now and then to keep it fresh.

Otherwise you just seem one-dimensional and it could make people think that you still have this short term memory affliction...because you seem to be forgetting that you recently made quite a few a horse related posts...which were met with apathy and boredom.

Ok, I'll play along (although this has nothing to do with the thread)...

No, I don't wish to have a sugar cube.

Now, we've got that out of the way...Was Mayweather your choice?

Rubio adds an amusing dynamic to fightbeat. I like that he is Ike's nemesis.

Deep down I think they love each other though. If they met in real life there would be some serious sausage jockying and cock choking.

If Rubio can still achieve an erection that is :dunno:

The question that should be asked is why was Floyd/Arturo hyped as a legitimate (PPV) showdown, while Oscar/Arturo was simply promoted as a (punching bag) tuneup for De La Hoya?

Gatti had lost three big matches in a row leading up to the Oscar fight - at 135. When Mayweather fought him, Gatti had won a number of high-profile fights at 140 and held a paper belt.
