I seriously believe there are guys on this board who would do a hell of a job on HBO, Showtime, ESPN2 or EPIX.

Honestly, no ass kissing to it; Jake, Mike, Steve Dave, Irish, Reed just to name a few would kick ass on a broadcast.

Of course, presence and delivery has a lot to do with it, too. But from a knowledge standpoint and if their delivery is as good as most of their posts, it'll work.

On MLK Day in January, I did some public access station work for an amateur boxing smoker. The equipment was good but we had regular mics and not headsets, so the guy I did it with, and I talked over each other in the beginning. It got better by the 3rd fight (the card had 7 fights) Hell, we did it for free! I could have done a lot better.

I also did color commentary for the Guns & Hoses event here in Jacksonville, back in '03. it's a charity event where cops and firemen fight 3 one minute rounds for charity. I did the last 7 or 8 matches. It was fun.

By the way, I was also a "Celebrity" Judge, along with Roy Jones and Bert Sugar back in '04 for the same event and then with Herschel Walker and local media members in '05.

Anyway, who else do you guys believe would do well on television (from this board)?

Jake, Reed, Steve_Dave, Donnybrook, if you remember him.

I am at my best when I do research. I could send a guy into battle with some really good material, a smart-answer for every occassion, kind of thing.

It's very hard to know or say just based on posting. Presentation is arguably even more important than knowledge in broadcasting.

You and Karl would make a great team. I'll run the truck.

If the fight gets boring, I'll tell Karl that you called him a typist and let the announcer fight take over.

We should change this thread to "Which three posters would make the best team?"

Who'd be Lamps, Merchant and Manny Stewart? Or just change one for Max!

I also happen to make my living broadcasting on TV. :kidcool:

I think a lot of the guys here would be great. I know Jake and REED are great on air. Trey, are you still hosting?

I have not done a daily radio show since January '06. However, I do go on stations from time to time as their "Boxing Expert" during big fights. I remember how I broke down the Pacquiao/ODH fight and picked ODH to win by late round stoppage. That made me look good:dunno:.

I've been right on all of the big fights since then; at least the fights big enough to merit radio time.

Bert Sugar and I have been talking about a few possibilites for the future. He knows Spike Lee and Spike has come on air with me in the past. Spike does documentaries (Including boxing) as you guys may know. You never know. I may get a shot to be the clown giving an incoherent analysis of a particular boxer, with the subtext of "Boxing Historian" under my name! ala Joyce Carol Oats!! I also plan on splashing when I go to the Boxing Hall of Fame in June. Bert will be there, too.

It's all about who you know in that business and any other for that matter. In fact, I'm meeting up with Bert Sugar next month in NYC for the NFL Draft (Yes, Bert goes to the draft). It's funny how when I go to the draft and hang with Bert, all of these big time players from the NFL love taking pics with him. A lot of these athletes really like and respect boxers!

I always remind Bert that he's getting old and it may be time to pass the baton and NOT to Max Kellerman!!!
