there's no way he fights mosley again. maybe hatton or cotto. if he wants this as some sort of a tune-up, i'd say he'll go w/ someone like judah, but then i think he may lose.
He promised his wife that he won't fight Cotto. I think it could be Hatton. Something says Ouma to me.
i doubt that he'll fight anyone from gbp. i think ouma would whup his ass. i'd say go w/ zab or quartey in a rematch.
Or a business decision. I actually think Oscar has a good style to beat Cotto. He's just too past it.
true, but i doubt it would garner half the publicity from their first fight, which turned out to be a stinker. i know i'd be saving my 50 bucks if that happens.
Oscar saying he won't fight someone (or most things he says) should be taken with a grain of salt. He also said he wouldn't fight Mosley, Vargas, and Mayweather. Although I have my doubts if he ever makes 147 again, guys will either move up to 154 or a catch weight for the payday and exposure for a fight with DLH. I say he may fight Cotto if he beats Mosley, or Hatton if he beats Mayweather (which may include some funny business with the scorecards). If Mayweather and Mosley win, then I think he'll look for another opponent, since G still makes big $$ off of Mayweather-Mosley. If Mayweather and Cotto win and there's talk of that fight, I expect Oscar to cock-block and say he wants Cotto, since G makes no $$ off of that. Of course that might put an end to the G/Top Rank truce. A Mayweather rematch is probably the last of his choices, given the outcome of the last fight.
Oscar's fights lately have been sh*t. His performances are worsening. Funny enough, he still gave Floyd Jr a much tougher fight than anybody expected. For a 35 year old inactive fighter, that's pretty good.
Actually, Cotto-DLH would be easier to make than Mayweather-Cotto for the simple fact that Floyd won't want to partake in any fight where Arum is the lead promoter. As far as it ending the truce - Arum will probably get over it quicker than he'll finish counting the millions he'd make off of such a fight.
"Everybody" is alot of people. I know I expected a close decision...it's actually the reverse: given my scorecard, it was a bit easier than I expected for PBF. DLH's problem now isn't his handspeed, chin, power or accuracy...it's his LEGS. Peace.
I don't care about YOUR scorecard Donny, with your genius boxing mind you know what to look for in scoring fights.:: I'm talking about the masses who score fights based on what they see as a whole, not taking into account that 'ring generalship' stuff. Floyd looked very beatable and most of the crowd was not impressed with him nor his performance.
:: My point was...not "everyone" expected an 'easy' fight for PBF. And yes, I can see why many were not impressed with his performance and why they see it as a closer fight. Agree on that. Then again....you have to wonder what people were EXPECTING PBF to fight like....Gatti? :notallthere: ::
The fight was similar to what I expected, except mainly that Oscar's parrying was better than I expected. His defense was pretty impressive. Mayweather got the job done against a bigger guy, but also an older inactive bigger guy. He was too cautious and for the most part, unimpressive.
Cool. I expected a close decision win over DLH; which is what the scorecards said (though on mine it was wider). I agree he was generally unimpressive though. Have never said otherwise. But then again, that's pretty much what people should have EXPECTED is my point. Peace.
Damn, I guess that "never underestimate a good night's sleep" commercial really makes sense. I need some more coffee. Oscar messing up a PBF-Cotto fight would only make Arum mad if Oscar fought PBF, as Arum (and any promoter) would rather their fighter take on DLH rather than PBF. As I said before, I think DLH would much rather fight Cotto or Hatton than a PBF rematch.
I wonder how long it will be before Oscar is considered an elite fighter gatekeeper. He's lost 3 of his last 6 fights, and 3 of them were mega fights against Mosley, Hopkins and Mayweather. I think if Oscar fought a little bit more often than he does he would have fared better (although a lot of ppl thought he won the second Mosley fight)but he's running a huge promotional company now. He could have fared better against Mayweather if he had continued doing more of what made him successful in some rounds but he didn't.
Well, he waited one more fight before taking on Floyd again. Hard to believe what so many thought was impossible before will take place in September: A DLH-Mayweather rematch. Just browsing old threads an ran up on this. Can you believe it? You know what? I'm gonna go ahead and pick DLH by KO. Why not? How much will that rubber match sell? Us suckers will purchase again.
I wish Fraud and Oscar death ray: and will not waste time talking about them being paired up for another orgy, these two cancerous participants are below and irrelevant to the league of real fighters like Cotto and Margarito.
I don't think it is a good idea for Oscar to fight at 147. If he was to check out against Cotto he should put Cotto on the cheese burgers and make him step up. Very difficult fight.
:: that's what I always said.. I thought it was a good fight with PBF controlling and winning impressively. people act as if they were disapointed cuz it was not gatti-ward. these guys have SKILL! They are not going to just abandon all defense and swing for the fences::
