Haven't seen one of these threads in a while and it sounded fun to get a feel of where everyone on the forum is at. Name 'em.:kidcool: Favorite fighter: Thiago Alves Least favorite fighter: Steve Cantwell Favorite up and comer/prospect: Frankie Edgar, not sure if he is still an "up and comer":dunno: Favorite '08 fight so far: Alves/Koshchek
Favorite Fighter: Eddie Alvarez Least Favorite: GSP (I know, I know, everyone loves him, but something about him rubs me the wrong way.) Prospect: Can you still call Lesnar a prospect? Muhammaed Lawal has looked good in his 2 fights. Paul Bradley has looked very good as well. Jim Miller is a local guy who has signed up with the UFC this year. He should be able to make some noise in the stacked 155 division. His only loss is to Frankie Edgar back in 2006 in Edgar's last fight before joining the UFC. Fight of the year is a toss up between Alvarez\Kawajri or Alvarez\Hansen. Nothing else I saw this year even came close... Favorite Fighter: Anderson Silva...IN the Ring, it's Virtually a Toss-Up for REED's Fandom, btwn Silva & GSP...But OUT of the Ring, Silva's Carefree Personality Gives him the Overall Knod... Least Favorite Fighter: Matt Hughes...1 of those ARROGANT Religious Dudes...OPENLY Looks Down Upon Others & Thinks he's BETTER than Everybody... Favorite Up & Comer/Prospect: Ben Saunders or Anthony Johnson...Most Saunders Fights Seem to B VERY Violent, yet he's Probably THE Nicest Guy on the Planet...Strange Dichotomy...When Johnson's Career is Over, he'll Probably have a Looooooooooonger Highlight Reel of EXPLOSIVE Finishes than Any Fighter...Honorable Mention to Marcus Hicks, but he's Already N his 30's... Favorite Fight of '08: It's HARD for REED to Recall What Fights Took Place N '08...Does Chuck vs. Wanderlai Qualify???... REED:mj:
Favorite: BJ Penn from Hawaii, nuff said Least: Chuck Liddell worst striker ever. Fighters should be embarrased for losing to this wide punching punk. Prospect: Koschek/Rashad They may not be prospects but I hope that they both win a title at some point in their career. Favorite fight: Chuck vs Wanderlei was a good one, but I'll go with Rashad KTFO Chuck as my favorite. I must have watched that punch over 100 times.
Favorite fighter: Lyoto Machida--- I just love his style. It seems overly defensive yet he inflicts damage and gets stoppages. Least favorite fighter: KJ Noons--- Not sure why but I just can't stand this dude. Favorite up and comer/prospect: Maia or Cerrone---If either can be considered an up and comer? Favorite '08 fight so far: Torres-Maeda<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
Favourite fighters: Wanderlei, Rampage, Torres, Garcia, Huerta, Nick Diaz, Lawler, Penn and Fedor Least Favouriters: Hughes, Serra, GSP, Chuck, Randy Favorite up and comer: Ben Saunders Favourite fight: Penn vs Sherk
REED Wants to Add NATE DIAZ (the Younger of the 2) to his List of Favorite Up & Comers...That SKINNY, SHITtalking Motherfucker can FIGHT!!!... REED:fightme:
:: Yeah the attitude and mouth get Nate a bad rap, but the kid can scrap no question. With that skinny frame and geek-a-fide face you just know he's seen his share of real fights. I'd just hate to be the dude in the bar that doesn't know who he is and starts crap with him because of his appearance.
Favorite: Fedor - Ferocious in the ring, calm and reserved demeanor outside of the ring, and dominant for a long time. Hard not to love him. Least Favorite: Nick Diaz. Sorry REED, but I hate the "punk ass" attitude Fav up and comer: Thiago Silva Fav fight of '08: Hansen vs. Alvarez
REED is High on Nate, Not Nick...There Seems 2 B More HUMOR N Nate's Shittalking, whereas Nick just Comes Off as a DICK... REED:hammert:
Favourite fighter: Clay Guida (The epitome of what I like about MMA these days. Pace, heart, pace, will to win, long hair) Least Favourite: Matt Hughes (so over this worn out giant, fighting smaller men. Fuck his boring, lay and pray country ass) Favourite Up and comer: Thiago Alvez (Badass dude, with a developing resume and attitude) Fave fight of '08: Kawajiri v Alvarez (no contest)
What about Llandon Showalter? :dunno: Fav Fighters: Anderson Silva/Gegard Mousasi Least: Cantwell, Diego Sanchez, Rashad Evans Prospect: Amir Sadollah 08 Fight: Silva/Henderson
You hate Hughes because he's a giant beating up smaller guys at welterweight, and you like Thiago Alves who himself is one of the biggest fucking welterweights I have ever seen. He was a giant compared to Hughes when they fought! You are funny dude.
I know I, a funny dude. Alves won't be hanging around 170 for a decade like that worthless bumpkin did. If that happens, I might change my mind. And I hate Hughes for more than just his cheating. I hate everything about him.
Yeah Hughes just seems like a dick. Alvez won't be making 170 for long that's for sure. The guy is huge for 170.
Landon is my dog, we grew up together. He is a bit more focused on running his gym now than fighting. If he fought Alves, I'd be in his corner!:hammert:
Fave - BJ, Marcus Davis, Rampage Least fave - Liddel Fave up & comer - Anthony Johnson. 08 fight - Penn-Sherk.
Ivan is a really cool guy. I used to roll around at Landon's gym, Landon's trainer Charlie, used to train out of Matt Hume's. It was like an all star MMA cast there. Josh Barnett, Ivan Salaverry, Dennis Hollman, Benji Radach. I got to know a few of them, and Ivan was definitely the coolest. On the same note, Dennis Holman was the un-coolest. Guy thought way too much of himself. Don't you live up in Canada, Gatti? What part?opcorn:
I live between Niagara Falls and Toronto, in a city called Hamilton, which is defined by urban dictionary as: Fucking stanky hellhole. Two major steel companies reside in this shitty industrial city in Southern Ontario. These companies dump innumerable amounts of shit into Lake Ontario - where dead fish now line the shores.
Ivan is awesome, I heard he runs a successful gym now in Seattle. His submission over Tony FRyklund is legendary, and Joe Rogan frequently refers to the crucifix move (what Matt Hughes did to BJ Penn in their second fight) as "The Salaverry", in reference to his win over Amar Suloev I think. artie:
