A prime Camacho Sr was the fastest fighter I have ever seen. I have RJ in 2nd place.

Jones is the fastest fighter of all time, and it isnt even close IMO.

Look no further than the combo that dropped Reggie Johnson. When prime Roy let his hands go, I literally just shook my head everytime. It was mind blowing to me that I was watching a human being with speed like that. He was so fast it almost seemed supernatural.

After Roy.... its either Camacho, Taylor, or Leonard.

Floyd, and Manny dont even belong on the list.

Fair enough. I think Camacho Sr had the edge but I can see RJ being the #1 pick as well.

To be fair, I think Camacho's destruction of Limon is the most impressive handspeed display Ive seen outside of a Jones fight.

    I'd put Camacho at #2.

I think Leonard was arguably faster than Taylor. Reason being that Taylor, though lightning fast, had a tendancy to arm punch sometimes. Whereas Ray fully committed to his combos, and was still blindingly fast.

Peep the 1 round blitz of Andy Price to see Leonard's handspeed at its finest.

It depends if we're talking footspeed too, or just handspeed.

Handspeed Roy is the fastest ever, P4P. Fuck he might even be the fastest in a direct comparison.

Manny is at least as fast as Leonard by the way, but he's smaller.

I've never understood why people say Camacho SR is THAT fast. From what I have seen of him, he doesn't look like one of the fastest ever.

Can someone post a Camacho SR clip that demonstrates this handspeed?

Youtube the Bazooka Limon fight. Prime Camacho really was THAT fast! Alot faster than Manny.... even though Manny is by far the better/greater fighter.

And yes, talking overall speed..... Jones has this by leaps and bounds. No other fighter in history had the combo of handspeed, footspeed, and reflexes that Roy had.

One punch at a time Pac might be as fast as Leonard....but while throwing combinations Leonard is much faster...

Howard Davis(a faded one) was able to more-less match speed with Mel Taylor. But Camacho made Davis look slow, and plodding.

Cheers Eric, I just checked out some of the Limon fight on youtube.

You're right Xplosive, Camacho was extremely fast. I had just never seen a prime Camacho fight for some reason.

Some of those combos and hooks were Roy esque speed.

Ray was a VERY fast welterweight, but overall Manny is faster in a direct comparison. He's super fast at welterweight, probably the main reason he can batter these bigger guys.

    Here's a prime Ray for a reminder - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHM7zrmm4_U

i guess this is about hand speed as opposed to how fast a guys mind works as well. jones jr is the fastest fighter ive seen live and i caught him at the tail end of his peak

Unsurprisingly Roy is winning 10-1, with a lone Puerto Rican vote for Camacho

Honestly, even if Camaco was as fast as Roy, or Manny even, you'd still have to give it to Roy.

Roy was a natural super middle or thereabouts with the speed of a really fast featherweight.

BTW if it is P4P, Tyson should be on this list. The speed he got on proper power shot combos was just insane for a heavyweight.

If it was about mind speed... then Roy & Floyd would be at the top.

Floyd's hands werent as fast as Mel Taylor's.... but he damn sure thought, and reacted alot quicker than Taylor.

Taylor had by far the lowest ring IQ of anyone in the poll.

I think that's why people still have an image of Floyd being a really fast fighter.

How quick you think in the ring, reaction speed etc is obviously a big part of being fast too. Floyd is right near the top for that, but he doesn't have the same raw velocity that the other guys on this list have, certainly not at welterweight.

    Agreed.

For example you've got guys like Khan today who have very fast hands, but because of the robotic nature in which their put to use, this elite speed isn't as dominant as it should be.

mayweather jr's reflexes have slowed up as well. taking years off at a time probably hurts a boxers reflexes more than any other aspect of his game.

i wouldnt mind seeing Khan fight Holt. did you guys see holt level julio diaz last night? the guy is a relatively decent counter puncher who certainly has the pop to level khan.

Still look pretty damn good to me, in what fight did they look slower?

He's slowed down physically, but to me his reactions looks more or less the same.

No I didn't see it, but yeah Holt is a pretty respectable puncher. Can you believe he only has a 50% KO ratio?

Also, I can't believe he lost to that scrub that Judah just beat.

Even in the Mosley fight he looked to be able to spot openings and pull the trigger as quick as ever, plus his defense looked as good as ever.

Mosley's hands looked faster than Floyd's in the early rounds but it didn't matter because Floyd's reactions and thought process was so far ahead.

The only thing that surprised me a BIT is that despite winning pretty easily, he was getting caught fairly often by counters from Marquez, semi flush. Perhaps that's an indication his defensive reaction speed has slowed slightly, because Marquez looked slow at WW, and out of his depth.

I'd give Judah a better shot at leveling Khan, than I would Holt.

In fact seeing how shitty Khan looked vs southpaw McCloskey... I wouldnt be AT ALL surprised if old man Judah timed him something big and turned his lights out.

I doubt Golden Boy will let Khan near Judah.

I wouldn't be surprised either. That short, quick shot that KO'd Mabuza while backing up was pretty nice.
