Definitely Eddie Davis. All his other spectacular performances at 175 came against stationary offensive fighters (Saad, Martin, Rossman).
Which I think goes to show that he's incredibly versatile. There wasn't a style he was particularly troubled by, he could beat swarmers, sluggers, or boxers. When you throw the three of them in one, and make him as good as Michael Spinks, that's when he loses.
Yeah, it would take an exceptional fighter to beat prime Qawi. I recall a few idiots on ESB once said that Virgil Hill would beat Qawi. Yeah, that's a pipedream. Qawi would beat the fuck outta Hill.
Hill loses to that entire elite 70s/80s lot - Spinks, Saad, Galindez, Qawi, Conteh, Pops, EMM, all beat Hill.
I think Hill has a decent chance vs some of those guys. But you can flat out rule him out vs Spinks, Saad and Qawi. But I can see him turning up on a good night and beating Eddie, Galindez or Pops. Then again, I could also see him losing to Scott and Burnett, so swings and roundabouts.
Agreed. And he's sure as fuck not losing to Tommy Hearns. The Eddie who thrashed Pops would do something similar to Hill after figuring his jab out and taking it away IMO. Massacre over fifteen.
