If it was the Wlad of old, he would control the action early, but at some point 'Spoon would collect him with that huge overhand right, a punch Wlad woul never see coming. We still don't know how good this new safety-first Wlad actually is but I think he would be able to outbox and probably even KO Witherspoon in a close fight
Just saw this one posted on another forum. I think Spoon KO's Wlad but it could just as easily go the other way around. I don't think there's a "wrong" pick here.
Nonsense. He may catch Wlad with something big (overhand right), but he's NOT outboxing Wlad. Wlad's height, reach and quickness will prevent that. And please don't bring up the Larry Holmes fight as evidence...different style, different physical specimen to deal with.
Wlad's not faster than Spoon, not by a longshot. More to the point, Wlad has NO DEFENSE, other than clutching on for dear life.
That...is just plain crazy. Wlad may have alot of weaknesses...but handspeed is certainly not one of them....
He doesn't have bad handspeed, but Witherspoon had much better handspeed, plus an excellent jab and - again - DEFENSIVE SKILLS, which Wlad had none of. Spoon would be staying away from Wlad all night, while Wlad would have no way of staying away from him. How can someone with NO DEFENSE outbox Tim Witherspoon? Wlad could knock him out of course, but not outbox him.
