William Joppy LITERALLY Saying "The Buck Stops HERE" in the Build-Up & Attempting to PHYSICALLY Show Felix Trinidad He WASN'T "Big" Enough to Campaign @ '60... Wherever You Are Qwerty, "the Ring" Had NATHAN to Do w/It Bruh, It Was Joppy's Fight Plan... REED
Hagler was doing most of the blitzing. He knew he had to be more aggressive than usual because Hearns was great at long range and when he had more distance on his right hand. Hearns does try to get distance mid way through the first round and box, but Hagler kept to him. Then Hearns tried to do more of that in the 2nd and box and move, but Hagler kept getting to him.
What about Foreman in Zaire? As soon as Ali went to the ropes in the 2nd, he kept hitting Foreman consistently down the middle. But Foreman just kept coming forward, with little regard for Ali’s punches, thinking his power would bail him out.
The best example I think is Taylor going to war with Chavez. I know it wasn't in Mel's nature to be a careful boxer, but he had the legs, jab, and ability to do so, and had he done so, he probably wins. Instead, his gameplan resulted in one of the all time great wars, but it also lost him the fight.
It was the Philly Fighter in Him... Pro-Chavez Crowd, Taylor was NATURALLY Combative, Unification Back When Unification WASN'T the Norm, WINNING the Fight Convincingly... Taylor Got Caught Up... And He Didn't Realize the SUBTLE Damage Chavez was Doing To Him In the Process...Until it was Tooooooooo LATE... REED
Gatti-Mayweather doesn't belong imo because Gatti had no shot in fucking Hell either way. In fact, if he went into attack mode, Floyd stops him inside of 3-4 instead of inside of 6. I'm thinking of fights where the wrong game plan actually impacted the outcome. How a bum chooses to fight an all time great has zero impact on the overall outcome. Floyd blitzes Gatti no matter what plan Gatti uses.
Floyd wins no matter obviously but it was still a foolish approach. It would be like a second rate sprinter racing against Usain Bolt and deciding a wise idea would be to try running it backwards.
Loma vs lopez. What a great game plans it was to do absolutely nothing for more than the fkrst half of the fight
Ya he was scared of something in the first half then realized there was nothing to be scared of and went at him and won most of the second half. If he fights like that from the beginning he wins a competitive fight clearly.
Can't really argue with that. I thought Loma looked old in the first half of the fight but the second seemed to show that he was just fighting scurred. I'd add this, mind. In that last round, when Loma really opened up, he got tagged and hurt. I guess that was what he worried about all along. Loma had loads of skill but he's plenty hittable and against a bigger man who hits hard, maybe he hoped to stay in it and come on late. There is some logic in it, but it's a damn hard way to win. MTF
Yeah I don't think Hearns gassed as such, Hagler set the pace and Hearns might, if what Manny Steward says is true, have had wobbly legs before the fight. But Hearns just never could handle power when it hit him in the head. It's like a machine, you sacrifice armour protection for more firepower and speed, eventually some fucker with the big gun just gets through. Hearns would have been happy to hop skip and jump all night but Hagler made sure that wouldn't be the case. Hearns won literally 30 seconds that opening round and he only won it because Hagler went straight to him. I actually think it's one of the most 1-sided great fights of all times. People don't like that, they want to make out it was some sort of a nap and tuck war until the end. It wasn't. Hagler was the boss for all of it bar 30 seconds.
sly comes around every few years hanz is a certified microsoft technician who has been trying to contact you to remove wirus from your computer. You have 800 wirus on your computer and if you give him google gift cards he can remote them for you
Proper laughed at both jokes in that post but it's funny.......where's the line on racism these days? Just saying. I mean I agree with you, here is what I do in my spare time......... The Northern Ireland man who hacked into Indian call centre to obtain CCTV footage of scammers targeting him
Yeah it also didnt help that Loma, the ringside announcers, his corner hell did anyone see how bad Lopez’ body was hurt in that one round (8 or something?), like Loma could folded him in half with a couple more taps to the ribs but instead went for the open headshots while Lopez gave himself a rib massage for a solid minute.
A good friend of mine, may he rest in peace, was in charge of bringing in sparring partners for Taylor for this fight. He said that, every day, George Benton would get in the ring with Taylor and walk him through a 12 round fight, move by move. He said the fight plan was very precise and there was never any thought given to moving and staying away; the whole plan was to initiate exchanges and prolong them by turning inside and continuing to punch. They firmly believed that, because Chavez had been so long at 130, Taylor would be the stronger guy and would back Chavez up.
