I wouldn't go as far as "excited" but i'm looking forward to it.

    Just read this at fightnews:

Hopkins says "I think I still have a fight or two in me."

Says he's ready to do something "shocking" in 2009 to top last year.

They said 259 on FNF. Solis is shit anyways. He may have had a nice AM career but he's not much of a prospect.

he is competent but nowhere near that unbelievable pospect some of us (including me) thought he would turn out to be. His punch especially is very average.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything "special" out of him so far.

He's like some cross between Eddie Chambers and Chris Arreola.

Not to Nitpick, but the ONLY Thing those 2 have N Common is that they're Both FAT:lol:....

Arreola's Can PUNCH a Bit, Chambers Certainly CAN'T...Chambers has HANDSPEED, Arreola Certainly DOESN'T...Chambers is a Pretty Good DEFENSIVE Fighter, Arreola has a CATCHER's MITT for a Face...

So WHAT R U Saying about this Guy Exactly???....

Solis landed one left hook to the temple which pretty much ended his match, his opponent being on queer street.:dunno: So it was an average one punch TKO? All good I guess, as Burnett was the same guy who got ktfo at the end of a match he was winning handily and only won because he got back to his feet as the bell rang to end the fight, similar to Bute-Andrade.

It looked to me like Gonzalez was trying to emulate Tapia's performance against Romero.

Unlike Tapia he forgot people were watching the fight and scoring it.

A few of you are failing to see the forest for the trees when it comes to Solis. His only real flaw is his inability to stay out of the kitchen.

As far as I can see, the only thing that's suffered as a result is his hand speed. Technique and performance-wise, I think he's been pretty damn solid as a pro, thus far, and there are few heavies out there who can match his skills.

Conditioning is perhaps the easiest flaw to correct. When it's your only hindrance, there's a lot of hope. The most oft compared I've seen/heard is Lawrence Clay-Bey, but Solis IMO always had/still has much greater potential.

    On Gamboa...

There are few in the sport who've been as high on the kid as I've been. But he's getting dropped way too often by guys that have no business putting him on the canvas.

I know that Tito and Oscar suffered frequent knockdowns early in their career (Tito a lot more so) and they always overcame, almost always in violent fashion. But with Gamboa it's a direct result of his in-ring arrogance. Firing nearly his entire team last year served no purpose whatsoever; he's the problem, not those around him.

Yep. 4-5 fights ago when he was getting dropped you heard announcers talk about how it's something "his people will have to work on".

Nothing has changed and it doesn't look like it will.

It's doesn't seem to be just a small difference in his handspeed, at least to me. And the pace in some of his fights can go pretty slow.

Still, him and Povetkin are two of the most skilled to enter the pro ranks recently and I'd put both above Arreola, but that's not really a dramatic statement.

Technique, I don't think his right hand is great. His left looks pretty good, but I think the power he has in it can be questioned a little bit. He still has pretty good handpseed for the division, and he does puts punches together pretty well. His defense is solid.

    Yep...

& it's Bordering on Becoming an EVERY FIGHT Occurence...Dude's TALENT is Apparent, but he's GOT to have Enough CAUTION to Play Some SEMBLANCE of Defense...REED Loooooooooves a Fighter w/SWAGGER, but Gamboa is Exhibiting STUPIDITY...

To Gamboa's Credit, REED hasn't Seen him Really HURT on Any of the Knockdowns, but STILL, he Gets CLOCKED & his Legs Momentarily GIVE on him...& as of Yet, he HASN'T Faced a BIG Puncher...

Gamboa WILL Get KO'ed & Most Likely N 2009 if his Promoters Continue to Move him BRISKLY...REED LIKES him as a Fighter, but he's ASKING to Get STRETCHED...

Solis has always struggled against taller fighters, even moreso in the pros with the extra weight. He couldn´t get to Julius Long or Aldo Colliander, and that doesn´t bode well for future fights with the Klitschkos and company. And yes weight can be corrected and one can expect a balloon period after years of strict cuban training, but Solis hasn´t turned a corner, he gains weight with each fight. So far Solis looks like the 4th best Cuban at Arena after Gomez, Gamboa and even Lara. My guess is that Solis is a bit jealous of the success and interest Gamboa has created, but he cannot let that get to him.

For all his faults, I love Gamboa. The guy is great TV. I really enjoyed watching him last night. I can't wait to see him in with better comp... even if he gets munched.

Gamboa is great for TV, Solis is as well, this guy is heavy handed and if it werent for his weight he'd be faster and with better stamina. Lara looks to be another heavy handed southpaw with speed, I dunno about his chin but he looks to have good skills.
