Both were fantastic offensive fighters. Both had power. Gomez was the bigger and more compete fighter who moved DOWN to face Carlos Zarate at bantamweight. Zarate was winning the fight handily,..until he got hit in the in the 5th with those counter left hooks, the last of which ended the fight. And then Gomez spit on him, classlessly. but up to round 5……Zarate won every round imo
Umm Zarate was the one moving up in weight while Gomez was the defending champion. Gomez also beat the brakes off Zarate in every round. Yeah he did some classless moves and was lucky that the fight was at his hometown where he was able to get away with his tactics but Gomez would have always been a bad style match up for Zarate.
