How so? Ike only fought a handful of times after Tua, one time against a significant opponent and i thought he looked good in that fight vs. byrd. i thought he showed good versatility beating a completely different fighter and beating him decisively in the end. if you are just talking about the mental component, then i certainly agree there

I thought this fight was just Izonritei boxing the hell out of tua and getting smashed late.

If Tua threw a lot of punches, then I'm wrong. But punch stat was relatively young at the time any tua izonritei fight would have set a record (I think) and (i think) izonritei was the one doing all the punches.

    Anyone have the #'s?

ike had a good chin, was mobile and threw a lot of punches. it would've been awesome had he fought holyfield, who was written off but soon to be resurgent (roy jones was the only one who thought holyfield was still a top heavy at the time based on his commentary).

although he fucked byrd up pretty good, he did admit afterwards that byrd had hurt him to the body.

OK this issue has been settled for good now. Ibeabuchi has won according to 67% of the voters. Only 29% saw Tua winning.

Maybe you could mail these results to Ike to the prison. I am sure it would make his sentence feel shorter

Coulda gone either way really, but last time I scored the fight(which was some years ago) I had Tua winning 7-5.

And agreed with whoever said the fight was overrated. It was a good fight, but not great like others have said in the past.

In terms of action, Tua-Izon was better.

Did you watch the fight blindfolded when you scored the fight?

explain your opinion. i don't think anyone in their right mind would say that fight was anything but close (hence the thread). how can you say Tua won by a mile?

Its a joke to think that either won by a mile. Its a fight that truly could have gone either way. Hell, a draw would have been suitable.

This thread reminds of this scene from Rambo 2008...

Burnett: So what I'm asking is that we compensate you for a few hours of your time that will help change people's lives.
John J. Rambo: Are you bringing any weapons?
    Burnett: Of course not.
John J. Rambo: You're not changing anything.

To suggest this fight wasn't even close is ridiculous.

Ibeabuchi as I recall threw over 900 punches to Tua's almost 800. I believe this fight holds the record for a 12 round heavyweight bout. Both men were extremely busy for HW's.

One thing I do remember was though in scoring it was close ... Only Ibeabuchi was hurt in that fight and at one point looked like he might go down. (I seem to recall twice Ibeabuchi looked hurt)

    Tua was never visibly hurt.

I could agree with a draw or Tua winning. That Ibeabuchi won was IMO the result of poor scoring. But everyone sees things differently. And so a close win for Ibeabuchi was not out of the question, though I don't agree.

Ibeabuchi and it wasn't even close??? That's just moronic.
